Default You guys, do you know the KMP051 Kirkham ?

Hi,

Just bought the KMP051 Aluminium body Kirkham, and will do a full restoration with the car, which is old (end of 90's)
I will buy a new 427 (aluminium) engine, and i wonder if i add a Twin Paxton superchargers kit ... what do you think ?

I have information from SAAC reistry about 2 old owners, but not know much and do not have their contact to ask them questions about the car.

Does someone know anything about this KMP051 Kirkham ?
All i know is :
- It was delivered 8/16/99. Coilspring chassis with 427 S/C body.
- PaintedBMW motorcycle ivory/blue interior; hard top. Powered by ’66 427 side-oiler with twin-Paxton set-up fabricated by Cut Vogt/Cobra Automotive - - Shown at SAAC-25 (Lime Rock, CT) 7/00.

nicogen,

I remember that your Cobra was on eBay around 2010-2011. It was the inspiration for putting a Twin Paxton in my Kirkham without the Super Snake hood (as I'm not a big fan). Do you have any of the old Twin Paxton running gear? What's in it now? Details, please!

Since we now know the chassis number (KMP051), we can see what the SAAC Registry says about it. I can check when I get home (unless someone else wants to chime in).

There's a member here named 'AGGRESSOR' (Geary) who has a beautiful Twin Paxton Super Snake, and he has more miles on it than the rest of us combined. He's a wealth of knowledge and a real good guy. Since what you want is more up his alley, he's be best guy for long term advice (I've had trouble reaching him lately, though, If anyone knows anything, please advise). My engine is a big inch, more aggressive cam, dual inline intake and SN-93's vs SN-60's, so my advice wouldn't be your best fit.

Craig Conley of Paradise wheels in San Marcos, CA is the vintage Paxton man Paradise Wheels - Vintage Shelby American Products. He has everything you need to have your chosen builder do the job. He'll have a lot to say regarding compression ratio, timing and carbs. Listen.

Word of caution: Is this your first Cobra? You may have plenty of experience with fast cars but Cobras are different. And high powered Cobras even more so. I would drive the car "as is" for quite a while and get to know the car well because once you do make the change, you'll be starting over. It's a commitment to keep these engines happy, not to mention yourself. That's probably why it was uninstalled in the first place

I'm curious to know your mileage (and how much of that was on the Twin Paxton - you may never know ). You have your work cut out for you. Depending on the level of accuracy you desire for your replica, you'll probably want to visit CSX3015.

PS - Beware of advice from folks who have never owned a Twin Paxton. There's a running joke that Geary and I have regarding "experts". When you embark on your journey, we'll let you in on it Good Luck!

Hi guys ... waoouuu .. Yes i think it is my car very COOL !!! THANK'S A LOT
I bought this KMP051 without seing it ... because it a a good deal, and i have a guy in france, (V8 specialist) who can restore it and put a new engine + new Twin paxton, so right now i do not know anything about my car, i just know that i WILL have a NEW car in everyway (frame off restauration + a lot of new component (tran, engine, paint, train, inside ... like 90% of the car will be new).
The price for me would be like 140.000 € without the Paxton or 160.000 with the Paxton.
What guys do you think of the cost and do you think it will add valu to the car if i do the Twin Paxton system ?

Congratulations on your purchase, Nicolas! Do you plan to replicate the original supersnake in paint color and other details? I suppose the value of any Kirkham will be influenced by how faithfully you keep to the "correct" original details. There are experts here who may comment, but I would guess that a correctly installed and set up Paxton system would add some value to the car.
