Default Paint aluminum

In order to paint a Kirkham car, how far appart show the car be taken down? I always thought it should be painted before it goes together, but it seems most people don't paint until the car is done and all the bugs have been fixed. . .

Ps. Yes, I am sure I want it painted and I do understand the draw backs. . .

For the 15K, show job, I saw (original car) the car was stripped to frame and body. But the assembler was a pro and had the experience and equipment to put the car back together without a scratch. The masking job superb.

Generally we took off (in the past, we don't paint any more).

hood
trunk
doors
hood latches
door latches
trunk latch
head lights
tail lights
turn signals
windshield
dash
seats (only because of the horrible event of overspray on the leather)
jack hooks
license plate light
side vents
kick strips
weather stripping
wipers

There really isn't mmuch more you CAN take off. A good painter will paint the car and not make a mess. A bad painter will make a mess you can never clean up!
