Stentor 07-07-2007 06:00 PM

I saw it on ebay earlier today as well--a very nice looking car. I am a bit surprised that rsimoes is selling his Kirkham so soon.

Look what else he has for sale in the Club Cobra classifieds. A smoke detector! What an exciting discovery: Club Cobra classifieds is a great place to meet all my home improvement needs.

BMK 07-07-2007 06:59 PM

There may be a link between the smoke detector and the Cobra sale...

SJK2 07-09-2007 08:33 AM

That is "Rsimoes" Kirkam & what a beauty.????

rsimoes 07-09-2007 09:06 AM

You guys amaze me. I can't believe how quickly you found it.

Let me clarify a few things:

First, the car is NOT for sale unless my reserve is met. Unlike before, this is NOT deal time. The reserve is exactly, down to the penny, what I put into the car. The advantage is that you can have one today and with the registration frustration behind you and the bugs worked out of it. Buy it today, drive it today. (of course these types of cars always require tinkering, but everything I have found and the Kirkhams have found, has been addressed.)

Why am I considering this? I think Jamo may have been right, I think Cobra's while a high school dream, may not be for me anymore. (would have killed me in High School) Perhaps I am more of a Corvette guy. (modern performance with A/C) Who knows. I will always love Cobras and what they stood for. Perhaps, one day I can have an original on a turn table in my living room, lottery pending.

I can tell you this. It is a AWESOME Cobra, the best! It truly has a show car finish on it, the pictures do not do it justice. (not trying to be cocky)

However, chances are, this car is not going anywhere and I will just keep it and not drive it as much as I had anticipated. Like Robert Redford said, "everything is for sale". . .

Believe it or not, me too.:(

OK, I'm stunned.....

RSimoes and BNewell.........I stand in awe.

Both have Kirkhams; both have had others, to compare or to step up from or whatever. You got to the summit......profess sadness at the sale(s).......what the hell, boys? Are you pregnant?

I'm no rocket scientist, but this just flat amazes me.

Very, very best of luck to you both, in hunting down the automotive snipes you seek. I truly do wish you well.

bnewell 07-09-2007 01:22 PM

turnpike boy ~ nope, not pregnant, maybe just getting the itch for something else. I usually find myself jumping in the M3 instead of the cobra just because of the comfort with air and a stereo. I think I have driven the cobra 4 times this summer.

The Kirkham has been an awesome car and has been totally trouble free. In fact, I still get a "woody" everytime I look at it!!

I bought the car for the right $$$$ and I think it should move fairly fast. Although my ad is listed yet, I am working on it.

Variety is the spice of life, after all. And life is short.

Best to you, b.

clayfoushee 07-09-2007 01:40 PM

I may be completely off base here, but I suspect this is a common phenomenon among the high-dollar, quality replicas. It's pretty easy to justify having a lower-end plastic replica around as a toy, but unless you have a crazy amount of money, it's hard to justify a near six-figure car, unless you're going to get a little more use out of it.

There are so many other usable and more capable "supercars" these days out there competing for the same buyers.

Rsimoes, it is an extraordinarily beautiful Kirkham!

Murphy 07-09-2007 09:01 PM

clayfoushee you are on the mark

The funny thing is that the Kirkham cars are worth far more than the current purchase price or build price in my humble opinion. To replicate the car would be 2 to 3 times current cost if the Kirkhams were not making them. It's alot of cash for a toy but well worth it. If you ever see my car for sale beware. It means my wife is upset and trying to get even.

Jamo 07-10-2007 01:08 AM

Rob...I hope it doesn't sell. :)
