Default Tom do you have any pics of your return line setup?

My car cam with the one number 6AN line to the front from the holley red pump. Can I use this without a return line to get it running? Does the holley pump need a regulator?

Yes, return line not mandatory.

No, the Holley pump is self regulated to about 7 PSI.

That being said I prefer a bypassing return style regulator.

Tom,
I think I will add the regulator. When you guys add the regulator how do you run the lines? Can you recall the items that our needed for this addition? Which lines and fittings. I do have the recomended Mallory regulator part number. A shopping list may be helpful though since you guys know what works

Seems like Tom is too busy to give you a straight answer, so here goes.
My car came with the same -6JIC TFE fuel hose from the Holley fuel pump mounted near the diff., intended to connect to the mechanical pump on the FE motor. I followed Kirkham's advice and installed a Mallory 4309 bypass type fuel pressure regulator on the rear of the inlet manifold using Kirkham's special throttle return spring bracket.
However, I used the existing fuel hose as the bypass return to tank by simply disconnecting from the fuel pump discharge and connecting to the spare port in the fuel tank (next to the suction port). I then connected the other end to the bypass port on the Mallory pressure regulator - the hose was exactly the right length!
I then ran another -6 fuel hose from the Holley pump to the mechanical pump and then piped from the mechanical pump up to the 2x4 fuel log. I modified the rear of the fuel log to take a straight -6JIC male fitting so that I could connect up to the Mallory pressure regulator. I've attached some pictures in the hope that this will help.

To all,
Thanks for the help
Pusherfans, I have a single carb like you. It looks like you bought some premade 36AN. If that is true do you mind posting a laundry list of what you purchased? I would appreciate it since my car has a single 4 as well
thanks
chris
