Las Vegas Car Clubs

I talked with Jeff with the las vegas car clubs. Their the ones that held the rally last month and got a link from our website (vegascobras) to www.lasvegascarclubs.com. That should be one more avenue to get other cobra owners to find us.:) :)

Good going

Scott,

That was great . :) . maybe we can someday get allllllll of us together for an event.

Pete

Hello from Tucson, Have you guys organized there in Las Vegas ? I would like to meet a Michael Kerekes who is building and/or driving a FFR. Thanks, J. Kerekes

Scott Hatcher 01-31-2008 03:36 PM

John,
I'll see if anyone knows him at our Saturday meeting.

Scott

John-Tucson 01-31-2008 04:03 PM

Scott, Good luck with the formation of the Las Vagas Cobras. Hopefully we'll see a few of you at the WSCB. John

Can the Tucson gang come along ? How about mid-April in Lake Havasu ? John

davids 02-24-2008 08:30 PM

What I'd like to do is do a run over to Vegas on a Friday and stay at a place that has a good moring breakfast for all fo us (VEGAS AND AZ GUYS AND GALS) do a run and then all meet for dinner and some talk in the lounge or something like that. Then back to Az on Sunday..That would be fun..

John-Tucson 02-24-2008 10:48 PM

Hey Scott, we have sort of highjacked your posting. What do you think of a joint club meeting? John

Scott Hatcher 02-26-2008 01:08 PM

John,

A joint club meeting could be great. How about Friday thru Sunday, April 4th thru 6th. We could open this up to all cobra guys within driving distance of Las Vegas.

Friday drive over to Las Vegas. Stay at South Coast Hotel Casino. (This is south of the strip on Las Vegas Blvd.) Or a strip hotel if you wanted to be closer to the strip action.

Saturday morning meet at the Boulevard Bar and Grille across the street for Breakfast.

After breakfast take a run to the west of las Vegas, through the red rock area, then north to Lee's Canyon, up to Mount Charleston for lunch. Then back down the mountain and back to Las Vegas. The Lodge on Mt. Charleston is up in the pine trees at 8500 feet elevation.

Then we could have dinner and see who has the biggest tail to tell.

Anyone else have any comments on this??

mr0077 02-26-2008 01:31 PM

Scott, that sounds like a great plan. Let's do it! I assume this will be a co-ed operation (that is, bring the significant other if they'll go)? Maybe we could figure out something for Sunday morning too...a cruise down the Strip?

FWIW, South Coast has changed names and is now South Point, but it's a good location. Does the Mt. Charleston Lodge take reservations? If so, maybe we should get a head count and do that.

Scott Hatcher 02-26-2008 05:42 PM

Ken,
Glad to see your back in town. Our next meeting/run is on Saturday March 15th. Doug is planning that one.

Yes, April run is definately co-ed. Mt. Charleston doesn't take reservations....but as we get closer to the date a head count sound good.

Scott

John-Tucson 02-26-2008 08:31 PM

Hi Scott, The only thing that I see on the Arizona Cobra web page is an annual Picnic on April 5th. I'll present this to our President Mikiec and see what he thinks about that date. John Ps. Looking at the calendar, the 18,19,20th might be better.

DougR 02-27-2008 12:22 PM

Here's what's planned for the next couple of "Regular, 3rd Saturday" club meetings:

March 15th: We'll meet with the Ferrari and Lotus clubs at the Hooters @ Sunset Station at 1:00pm. Activities before 1:00 are to be determined. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know.

April 19th: Dyno day at the Speedway along with Time w/Tom of Tom's Motorsports. We'll meet at 8:00 am at the Iron Skillet at the Speedway then take turns at NRP's dyno. When not on the dyno, Tom will have his shop open for a tour along with films and shop talk. For those that don't know, Tom is the area "expert" on Cobras and runs a couple of Shelby Cobra Spec Racers.

An April 4-6 event falls in between those dates and should work for everyone. I have a previous commentment for breakfast on the 5th but I can catch up with the rest about 9:30 or so.

John-Tucson 02-27-2008 01:25 PM

Hey Doug, I have checked with our Arizona Cobra Club President and he advises that there are quite a few events already scheduled, they include everything from one day events to the Knotts show and the Routh 66 Fun Run which are three day events. It looks like we'll have to re-think the date and look for something in the fall. The five hour drive to Las Vegas is a bit much any time after mid-May when we hit 100 degrees. Thanks for your reply. John

mr0077 02-27-2008 02:50 PM

Heck, Scott's idea sounds like so much fun, maybe we should hold the First Semi Annual Arizona/Vegas Get Together without the guys from Arizona! Then we could tell them what a great time they missed and have the second one in the fall...;-)

DougR 02-27-2008 03:46 PM

The Utah guys are also interested. Maybe so a Tri-States get together.

Scott Hatcher 02-27-2008 07:11 PM

John,
If we have to wait for the fall.....OK. But I think we should start planning a date far enough in advance so both clubs can plan for the date.

Doug,
I think we should continue with the April 5th run. We can start with a 9:00 breakfast and you can still catch up with us before the run starts.
what do yoyu think?

Scott

John-Tucson 02-27-2008 08:55 PM

mr0077, Please don't do that without us. I hope that you can wait a few months and we'll join you. The idea of a TRI-STATE gathering really sounds interesting. Wow, what an idea. Let's try for it. Lots of possibilities, one year in Nevada, one in Utah, and one in Arizona. Scott, I agree. I'll check with Mikiec, Mike Canning, our President-for-Life. Hopefully we can get a date in Oct. when things start to cool off and the trip up there won't be as warm. As a side note, the Arizona Cobras have been in existance for 6 1/2 years and over time we have committed to certain events on certain dates and unfortunatly the calendar is filled this spring. I am sorry that I thought that we could make this happen this spring. Let's look toward this fall. John

DougR 02-27-2008 10:21 PM

John, The Mt. Charleston trip is one that we do a couple of times a year. If we go ahead with this, it will be a breakfast to lunch trip. We'll cook up something for the entire weekend when the AZ and Utah clubs join us.
Doug
