Default Insurance & Registration Q's

Whom would you guys suggest to insure my car with? I was thinking Haggerty. Also, would this car be considered exotic or modified or stock?

Do I need to do anything special when I go to DMV, other than have the signed title, proof of ins. ? The Texas tiltle I have lists the car as 1965 year model & make of car as " Roadster ". Model is Roadster also. Under remarks it says " Replica: ( 1965 Ford ).

I am kinda worried about DMV.

Thanks for the help!

Rob

Rob,

Nevada now has a regisdtration for "specialty constructed vehicles" similar to California's SB100. Check with DMV for details.

Insurance: Haggerty will not insure Cobras, peroid, end of conversation. They state that plainly on their website and I called to confirm. I have mine insured with American Classic Insurance. Others have theirs insured with their regular car insurance companies, check with you agent.

If you car is already registered you should have no problem. Mine was originally registered in AZ and when I went to DMV thy registered it the same as my AZ title. If that doesn't work, you can fall back on the "specialty constructed vehicles" that Scott mentioned.

My Farmer's Insurance agent was going to write the policy, but wanted to wait until I had the car fully registered in CA.

I went with Northwestern Insurance. Good people and very easy to deal with.

I also used American Classic Insurance...good people. Easy, just take four pics, fill out application, send it in and write the check...reasonable too.

Speed Racer,

It's smog exempted. I don't think the 3rd brake light is an issue. Ask them.

Rob,

We would be glad to help you with the insurance on your Cobra. We write quite a few Cobras. Hagerty actually refers their calls to us as well.

Haggerty will insure cobras but not kit cars. The value of car seems to be the point. Higher priced cars lead better lives seems to be their thinking.

Also try American National or American Family, both do bidness in Nevada and will cover our cars, for a very reasonable price.

Also, let us know how it goes at DMV, might be useful info.

Always be sure you ask for an agreed value for your Cobra coverage. You can really lose if you have a policy written on a Stated Amount basis.
