2012 London Cobra Show Raffle Car Winner! - YouTube

George W. Smith from Mass - our first internet sales winner. Allen Grant called him during breakfast on Sun and put him on speaker so we could all hear. George is a car guy and has owned a couple Healys and MGs and he knew who Allen is. Nice to know it's going to someone who will appriciate the car.

won't be able to register it because the car needs to meet current emissions regulations. current owners had until April 30 2012 to get a lifetime exemption....after that date near impossible to register unless drivetrain comes from an existing automobile and it meets the emissions that that drivetrain had....fun times in MA

When Allen read the winning ticket Saturday night, didn't he say Mr. Smith was from New York? If not, maybe he should consider moving so he can enjoy the car or change his name to Kennedy.

We looked up the area code and thought he was in New York, but when we actually got him on the phone he said Mass.

I'm not sure if this 100% up to date, but the SEMA Action Network has posted a toolkit for registering hobby cars in Massachusetts. The answer might be in there somewhere.

Good luck to the winner of that beautiful Cobra.

There is nothing in writing available that defines the current procedure to register in MA. It simply does not exist at this time. I know meetings have taken place and the wheels are in motion but it is not going to be like it was, that is for sure.

At this stage MA is taking the CA system to a whole new level and has no plan to offer any type of annual waiver limit etc.

heres your answer on pg# 23....

5. Specially constructed and replica vehicles until April 30, 2012, at which time they will be tested based on the model year of the engine installed

as long as you can prove the year of manufacture on the engine that will dictate the emissions testing....i.e. no crate engines...I wish MA would adopt the CA system ...the red tape I had to go through was something else...multiple trips to the registry , 2 title reissues , 1 trip to the state police where they make you feel like a criminal, 1 failed inspection sticker, a trip to the MAC center for a safety inspection...then back to the inspection station for non "R" inspection sticker...its the price of admissions!

My father is George E. Smith and he just took delivery of the car last night !! He has been so excited he could barely sleep half the time waiting for it...He received it yesterday and turned 75 today, what a birthday present !! ...And yes he is going to have to jump through hoops to get it inspected ... But there is a way!! My brother has been all over it since he saw this thread. You would not believe it if I told you. Typical Massachusetts !

Yeah Pete, we saw that video... Your neighbors must LOVE you !! He needs to put a horn and emergency brake in it also so he can pass inspection. He will hopefully have it on the road soon.

We are working on the inspection and registration now. Nothing will stop us from getting this on the road.
