Default What's to become of the old Lone Stars?

What do you think, guys, now that the new owner is using different molds and different frames, will that have anything to do with the values of these objects of our affection? The very things that drew us to chose LSC over the other makes are now gone, albeit for a better design, but will that make our original cars to be considered obsolete? Not that we did any of this to make money, or even get much of it back, but (worst case scenario) what can our heirs expect to be able to do with these gems?
Can't help but wonder why did the new owners buy the company if they were going to start a whole new configuration?
Of course, what the heck will happen to any of the hot rods, customs, etc., originals and repros, rat rods, or even classic cars once the old school car guys die off. Kids these days want to be tuners, not rodders. Or drone "pilots!"
Discuss. Please.

I don't think it will hurt the value. There is a long list of Cobra companies that have gone out of business.
Their cars are still out there and do sell. The ones with bad design problems sell of less. But somebody will buy them and correct the problems.

It is true the car "kids" are not the type to turn a bolt. I venture to say the real event will be the 16th birthday of the first "self-drive" car and the humans that were born then. No longer would a tour of the country-side in a loud fast car be a social event.

Well the new owner set up shop, in Boerne TX, about a 20 minute drive for me.
i've been to their new facility, i believe the new owner does have a original Lone Star of his own, i'm sure if you needed anything he would help.
there is going to be a get together at their shop this saturday, hop on a plane and join us. i'll pick anyone up at the san antonio airport that wants to come

They got rid of the molded dash, made the foot box larger, wider and lower body (same frame), IRS, many of the holes are pre-cut, and other cosmetic changes. The quality of the body seems better but I don't care for the new body shape.

Sounds like a Classic Roadster to me.

...So anyway being a Classic Roadster owner I have to say after looking past all the drama with PO's and crooks associated with the design restarts. bla bla bla and fixing and upgrading all the issues with the car it really has become quite a vessel. Being 6'2" the leg room is fantastic and the extra length and width of the car does feel more stable.

My neighbor and fellow Super Performance owner actually likes my cars stance better and his friends agree. This is not to say I like the change either in the new design, but figured I would chime in on that. See picture.

What I really wanted to say has to do with the kids and the tuner craze. I don't think the Cobra will ever die and its for reasons related to what we cobra replica owners and original owners experience when out for a drive. Its the dream state...deer in headlights look that washes over them even a child as young as 2 when you cruise by our as they walk across the pedestrian walkway while your at a stop light. I think it is a primal emotion and one that can be kept alive.

Further evidence is while at the gas station filling up my car that was on a trailer in route to an autorace a young 18 something ran up to my car and said; "Can I take a picture?!" He said this was his dream car and has been as long as he could remember. I of course told this snow flake to bug off!!!! and not to touch the car and if he wanted a picture then maybe he should get a job and stop living at home with his parents. ahhh just kidding.

I was at the local car wash getting it hand washed and waxed when a mom and her young son walked up. "What kind of car is that?" the kid asked. I told him it was a cobra. The mom the tells the kid... "Oooh, a Cobra Corvette!"

I just smiled.

No its a Classic Roadster built in '97. I was just making the point that like the lonstar the CR has a longer wheel base, deeper foot box, and 4" in more width.

I purchased and built the new body from UCC last June. It's on the way back from paint now. I should have it by the first of next week. I can say the painter did comment to me that he loved the clutch assembly and how smooth it was as well the cockpit and how much room it had. He paints mostly FFR's and said he had much more room in the UCC. I will post up some pics in the next few days when I get it back. Anyone is welcome to come see it or can meet up somewhere. I'm up in Denton.

Didn't someone from CR start the LSC ?
So they used to be, a real close match.

Will the new body fit the older frame ?

Does anyone have a side by side photo of the old LSC and the new car, showing the difference's of the the exterior, interior, engine bay and trunk ?

Or, if someone would take a lot of photo's of the entire car would be great. Then I can compare it to my 2000 year.

Is the frame the same ?

What are the improvments ?

With my 15" tires I can fit a 10" wide wheel, with the new car, can it fit a wider 12", so you can get a fatter tire ?

I don't want a 17" + wheel

What rear end does it have now ?

I hope,....it comes with BETTER quality carpet !

I wrote the company asking if their headers will fit the older 2000 version and they said,

"Unfortunately, we do not carry the 428FE's so our recommendation would be to contact your supplier and see if they can help you"

I don't understand,...not carring the 428 and supplier ?

Update-

They do not have or recommend FE's or any big block engines to customers, only small blocks. Never head of that from any Cobra manufacture.
