A dream realized

Just wanted to introduce myself and say at long last I am finally a Cobra owner. I purchased ERA #573 last year and successfully went through the NY VIN/registration process with the help of Nick at Classic Concepts.

I have to say I am pretty excited to experience a full driving season (now that the weather is finally breaking!)

Congrats on the new addition. Not only a good looking car but ERA has great bones under the paint and polish. Enjoy.

Take it easy on the way to Captree-under 130 on the Ocean Parkway...

That's a pretty nice car. Have you gotten a chance to drive much at all yet?

kevins2 04-02-2014 09:15 AM

Beautiful car. Tell us more about it when you get a chance.

I initially thought it was the Chas-mobile, but his had black pipes, roll bar, and quick jacks.

I think the "Chas-mobile" also had the street dash configuration with the 3 over 2 instrument cluster. Haven't looked at those photos in a long time so I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Congrats you won't regret it, they are way too much fun!

dallas_ 04-02-2014 01:44 PM

Congratulations. Beautiful car.

Have fun and be careful out there.

Danno64 04-02-2014 06:18 PM

Thanks guys. I have driven about 200 miles to date. I have been "gentle" as I am still getting the feel for her but 130 always seems to be little more than a few brave seconds away.

Originally a roller delivered to the first owner in 2000. Completed in 2001. Purchased last year with 1700 miles on the odometer. Original bore and stroke 1966 side oiler short block (practically NOS so the story goes) with LeMans crank and rods, Dove heads and valve train, OEM spec Bullet cam, Edelbrock 1x4 intake and custom built Holley 750 DP no choke. Richmond 5-speed and Jag rear i forget the gear ratio. Recently replaced the cracking sidewall Eagle GT II's with AVONs (pretending to billboards.)

I began coveting the ERA back in the early 90's. A dream 20 years in the making.

The weather is finally turning nice. I picked up my ERA in mid February and as of today I have placed 1,000 miles on it :D Cannot wait for warmer weather. You have a quality machine. Respect it well, the first time you do not may be the last. They are always just toying with us, egging us on..

awfink55 04-02-2014 07:25 PM

Congrats, Danno, I too had my ERA out today for a long spin now that the weather has changed. Love these machines. Enjoy your new car, Art Fink

And the Chas-mobile had magnesium Halibrand's with highly polished lips. ;)

Congrats Danno!

Danno64 04-03-2014 07:27 PM

Thanks again. Just been reading some of the other threads and don't get the magnesium Halibrand references. Must be an inside joke. I am old school all the way but does anybody really run around in mags these days?
