Spring Run

Sunday May 17th 2009,

Dear cobra members, i have booked Martha Clara Vineyard on the north fork for our spring cobra run. the cost will be $20 per person which includes 3 wine tastings, lunch and dedicated parking. please save this date on your calendar as this will be a great run. here is the web site for the vineyard for those of you who want to take a look . http://www.marthaclaravineyards.com/history.shtml

We are meeting at the Gap shopping center in Bay Shore along the South service Rd of Sunrise Hwy at 10am. i hope to be on the road by 10:30am. we will be taking the following route.
Sunrise Rte 27 east to Exit 61.
On exit ramp follow signs to Eastport then take the long wide horseshoe turn following signs to
Rte 51N. Big Valero gas station lies just ahead.
Rte 51 North approx 7 miles to Riverhead Traffic Circle.
Follow around to 6 O'clock, essentially heading in the same direction but now on Rte 24 East.
Stay on Rte 24 East only for approx 1.5 miles.
Make left onto Rte 105N for approx 5 miles to Sound Ave.
make the right turn on Sound Ave heading east to Martha Clara's Vineyard on the right hand side of Sound Ave.

Bob, this is a great run to bring the Mrs. last year we had about 10 ladies on the run. Martha Clara is a large vineyard and is family friendly. they have farm animal and a feeding area for the kids. Make this run all about her!!!

Sounds great but we need a leg stretcher in April – just to get the kinks out!
How about Port Jeff - or something on the South Fork?

3 weeks to go before our run. i have heard from a hand full of you on the trip, please let me know if you plan on making this run with us. i like to get a better idea on the head count.

Weatherman seems to be calling for rain on Sunday - WeatherBug -
"Showers or thunderstorms likely. Highs in the mid 60s. Chance of rain 60 percent."

Just in case - Do we have a rain date???

I have been keeping an eye on the weather every hour looking for good news, its doesn't look good as of now. I will make the call on the run tomorrow and send out e-mails and a post here. I'm looking at May 31st as our back up.
