Then you would agree that your number and your conclusion was potentially misleading, right? It's alright, admit it; humility is good for the soul/sole and it builds character and earns respect from your peers.

Like I said, the numbers surprised me in that my understanding is that Mexico relies far less on drug therapy than the US.
If that is the case, then the example here MAY indicate Mexico has much less control of drug therapy than the USA. While it would be easy to conclude the USA is "superior" in that regard, to me I would conclude both countries have a serious drug therapy issue that needs to be dealt with. 165,000 deaths is about three times the number of troops killed in Vietnam, a significant number. |

What I do believe is the reality all around us/ The candidate that promised all would be negotiated on TV but isn't. The same one who promised transparency in DC, but hides all. The one who promised ethics and hires crooks The one who promised CHANGE and made BAD changes. The "leader" that constantly whines that its not his fault. He's an incompetent baby lost in the scary woods of the REAL, not liberal world That we have already spent $12,600,000,000,000.00 that we don't have. That unemployment is claimed to be 10% while it is actually above 17% and was not supposed to go above 8% if we blew .9 Trillion on pork. That the administration claims the 'recession' is over while foreclosures went UP in December and 85,000 more lost their jobs. [Merry Christmas] I see a KFC and a Denny's and a Taco Bell and a handful of banks close down in our little home town and KNOW that's a bad sign. And I see EVEN a CBS poll say obummer has a negative approval rating. THEY are not Right wingers, they are liberals. I see other polls saying 48% of the nation is highly concerned with the economy and ONLY 12% are concerned about health care. And the liberals keep concentrating on health care. [but that is probably good for the economy in the short run{not health care, the fact that the liberals are distracted is good for the economy}] And I believe you better check with the head brainwasher for a re-wash and set as the great one gave up on that US health care TREATMENT is bad, tact way back in 2/09. |
Now that you mention it, US Health Care IS bad! It leaves out a very significant percentage of the population. Virtually every other industrialized country on earth has figured out a way to cover everyone in their population. We haven't, we suck when it comes to health care. :)

And there is nothing significant about the percentage of the population you refer to, they are completely insignificant! |
De-nile, I tell you, that river can't compare to the ocean. In size that ocean can't compare to space (the last frontier). Yes my friend, this is denial on a vast scale. :)

Heres a little blurb about that "insignifcant group" Dan refers to:

When I was working I was covered by dental insurance, never used it much. Then one day I chipped a tooth. I could NOT find a freakin' dentist in town who would do the work under my insurance. I actually had to threaten to SUE my employer to pay for it out of HIS pocket! He called a personal dentist friend and cut some kind of sweet heart deal with the guy to get my tooth fixed. I never did find out who actually paid the bill... |

Quote: The number of American adults who had inadequate health insurance to cover their medical expenses rose 60 percent from 2003 to 2007, from 16 million to more than 25 million people. http://static.2mdn.net/viewad/817-grey.gif Hardest hit were families with middle and higher incomes, those whose income was 200 percent above the federal poverty level or those with an annual income of $40,000 or more, a new report by The Commonwealth Fund found. If you will check, you will see that I, and the Majority of the American public are talking about Health CARE. [WHICH ALL RECEIVE]. While you and the liberal Utopian dreamers are talking about health INSURANCE. There is a massive difference unless you'd be happy with an insurance agent lancing the boils on your butt. ALSO, if you cannot see the yellow journalism in your quote, you are politically BLIND! Middle and higher incomes in the same sentence with 200% of the poverty level. Middle incomes are higher and 'higher incomes' are vastly higher than 200% of the 'poverty level.' But that wouldn't sell the soap they want to sell. The poor and near poor GET health care. They cannot pay for it but they have nothing to lose in bankruptcy and most of their bills are simply written off when the Doc., Hosp. sees it as uncollectable. INSURANCE is a commercial product, not a right. Do they have a right to life insurance they cannot afford too? Do they have a right to liability insurance they do not need too? Throw in accident insurance too, and dental, FULL COVERAGE, and eye insurance. Also give them a new car and a LED 55" flat screen TV with free premium cable, they are commercial products too. ALL IN THE NAME OF"HEALTH CARE" WHEN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT HEALTH INSURANCE. Want to lower health care costs for the poor and near poor AND everyone else? RESTRICT health insurance, NOT expand it. |
This is where things get twisted. Obama says Americans want reform, which is true. In my case reform means getting my costs under control. Which I am employed with health insurance. I think a large percentage of people are in this same situation. However this has never come into play in his reform.
So his view of reform only address a percentage of peoples views of reform. His reform is not my reform! I see insurance only costing me more. |
Health insurance equates to health care, it's that simple. 25 million people (by this estimate, some say 40 million) do not have enough insurance (money) to cover the costs of health care. Can't pay it? They won't get it, real simple. They do without, hope they don't get sick. If they do they have to wait until the situation is dire, their broke and finally qualify for Medicaid, AFTER they are financially ruined and in desperate need of medical care.
No one is asking the Gov to supply these people life insurance or big TV's. Again it's simple, their asking for health care. Call it what you want, insurance, health care, medicine, it's all the same. |
The debate largely is centered on the rising costs of health care, to wit, WHY is that? What's driving this rising cost? Reform is a way to address that. The current system is broke, the costs are ridiculous. The question needs to be addressed, how do we contain the rising costs?
|
|
Your right, we should do nothing at all, let the costs continue to escalate, screw those folks without coverage. Let's just "sit on it" some more.
America spends more on health care per person than any country on earth and yet 25 million folks have inadequate coverage while most all other countries cover their entire population. What's wrong with this picture? |

Is not!!!!:p |

Typical liberal BS, I did not say do nothing. I said RESTRICT insurance, not expand it. A solution that will solve the problem instead of worsening it. But you liberals see ONLY massive Government intrusion into everything as the panacea for all problems. Yet HISTORY of Government intrusions everywhere show that Governments only cause more problems without fixing any part of what they "proposed" was their plan. Suggesting a plan that does not involve massive Government intrusion and power consolidation is what liberals call doing nothing. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, ergo liberals are insane! |
