Anyone else recognize that NASCAR did not have another yellow at the end of the race while the accidents were occurring in the back, which would have given Earnhardt a side by side start with Jamie and an opportunity for a win ?

In the past, criticism that the yellows were shown to assist/influence the race results. Not my original thought but mentioned by Dave Despain on the Speed program Wind Tunnel.

At 2.5 miles with 31 degree banking, wonder what the bill will be for base repair and repaving ? The history of Daytona shows an arrangement where the paving machine is secured at the top with a cable/track, otherwise would slip down.

An improvement would be to remove all the oil etc from the pits deposited by the multiple earlier races prior to the 500, instead of sliding when entering the pits.

I believe any race with 500 miles will have periods of no action, same as at Indy. Overall, the races are too long, drivers hesitant not wanting to get aggressive until the final laps. Some races such as Daytona and Indy would not have the same appeal if called the 400 or 300.

Nice to see a different mix in the top 10, credit to Dale Jr going from 10th to
2nd in the last lap (s) , drove like Dale Sr.

Harrahs: Top 10 Odds to win, in finish order:

1. McMurray 35/1
2. Earnhardt 8/1
3. Biffle 25/1
4. Bowyer 18/1
5 Reutimann 35/1
6 Truex 35/1
7 Harvick 20/1
8 Kennseth 18/1
9 Edwards 15/1
10 Montoya 16/1
