Here is 2 sad stories for you.
I bought, new a Z28 Camaro in 67. Loved it, But 426 sounded so much better than 302. So I traded it in on a new Hemi Cuda'. Sad part, got $1300 for the Z car. Fuel crisis came about, had 2 little kids and 4 mpg didn't cut it.
Had to leave the Cuda at a gas station every night so he could fill it for the next day [gas rationing]. A 15 block walk each evening. Traded the Cuda for 2 little 4 bangers for the gas mileage. So I all but gave away a 67 Z and a 70 Hemi. I've done a little better with some investments!!!!
As someone once said about the F-4 Phantom, "The Phantom proves that if you put a big enough engine on a barn door, you can make it fly." I'd say any car that can't hold on to its hood and windshield trim shouldn't be driven at 200 MPH even if the engine is big enough to do it.
