Hagerty Insurance??
Hagerty Ins. is now available in Ontario Canada---But their site states NO Cobras.
Anybody insured with them (Cobra) & what is their reputation towards customers & claims.

Craig,
They will usually only insure Superformance, Kirkham and Shelby CSX cars. They didn't always insure Cobras because they have such a high probability of a total loss. I don't know if they insure in Canada, but try Robbin at Midwest Classic insurance.

I use Hagerty (I have a CSX). They seem good, but no claims so who knows. Call Robbin at Midwest. He's a great guy and will help you out, even if he can't insure you (he couldn't insure me because I am in DC).

I was with Haggerty for years, with my NAF. I'd read an article that they were not going to cover Cobras and the next time my premimum came due, they had greatly increased my cost and lowered my coverage. (in my state, an insurance company cannot cancel coverage, after a specific grace period) Granted, they didn't cancel me but they sure priced themselves out of my business. I went with Am. Hobbyst and have been well pleased with them. Regretably, I totaled out my car 16 months ago, and they quickly settled with me.

I have a few collector cars and when I titled my EM I went to them to add it to my policy. The only thing they asked was that it be valued at $50k or better. Other than that it was just filling out a form, sending pics and that was it.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I called Hagerty U.S. Friday, they passed my name to a dealer nearby who called me a few hours later. He took all my info & submitted a application for my car. He just called me back and said that I had met all the requirements for the states.
Unfortunately I do not live in the states & as of yet they are not writing Cobras in Canada.
Thanks again
Craig

I too got cancelled by Hagerty so I checked with State Farm and their specialty insurance is cheeper than what Hagerty was. In hind site, I'm glad they did or I would not have even checked with State Farm.
BTW most home insurance policies can even include a rider to cover your iphone if it is lost or stolen.

I am an Insurance Agent in Texas.
We have a great policy for all your cobra's or any other collectible cars.
Yes, there are a few restrictions as there is on most of these policies but our policy will work great if you do not drive your car to work everyday. There are mileage restrictions as well but I only know of a few people that put over 10,000 miles a year on their Cobra. The car has to 'sleep' in a locked garage, bther than that the policy is pretty much the same as anyone else's.
The prices are more than reasonable and the premiums are based on Stated value, with an appraisal of autos over a certain value.
I can also write your home, life and other auto policies as well. If you live anywhere in Texas and you need insurance don't waste your time looking. Give me a buzz or send me a PM and I can get it done for your very quickly. Most of the time in the same day or at least by the next business day, depending on the car.

Steve,
I am currently looking to get coverage on my not yet received BDR. Haggerty sucks; they must make this up daily, because I had to have a verifiable value of 65k. Anyways, I am in PA. Can you assist?

Yes, I can. Send me a PM with your contact information and I will give you the details.
I personally cannot write the policy because I am only licensed in Texas but I can get you in touch with someone who can.

I have received several Emails about Cobra insurance in other states.
Yes, I can help you get insurance on your cobra in other states. I am personally only licensed in Texas, However we have an in house system that I can access that I can get the right contact agent for you.
Most of us with-in our Company who write these types of policies are Car Guys (and Gals) so you would not be talking to someone who is not familiar with these cars and the uniqueness of each one. I would be happy to help you find someone, even if you are not in Texas.
If you are in Texas... call me. I am very familiar with these cars and have even owned one in the past. I don't own one right now because someone offered me more than it was worth at the time, remember those days?
It is costing you money by not checking with me on this. Again, yes there have been some premium increases this year on these cars. I think some of you may have already been notified that several companies will no longer write insurance on these cars (or any replica) at all. We not only will write them, but like this line of business.
Remember.... it cost you NOTHING to ask.
