good movie! national geographic documentary about a platoon that sets up an outpost in a valley that is a taliban stronghold.
half way through i thought to myself just like the government to decide the natives need health care, jobs, etc. like the rest of the world using this as an excuse to build a road through the valley and winning support from the afghan people. looking at the elders they were meeting with it didn't appear they cared about health care or jobs or anything being offered. like a guy at work said if they had promised cattle and goats they probably would have had success.
then after all the lives lost and time and money spent they give it back in april 2010! what a waste!
