A number of years ago while in NH for the " Climb To The Clouds " at Mt Washington I purchased a small carved wood bear, cut out with a chain saw. Link is for the 2011 event, not held in 2012.

Since then I have been looking for a wood sculpture with finer details of a much larger bear created from a wood log. Visited with Ken Packie a few weeks ago in Otis ( Berkshires ) MA and we arrived at a 5'8" sitting bear. I highly recommend contacting Ken if anyone wants a wood sculpture of a bear, eagle, turtle, wolf, fox, horse, or whatever your preference, etc. Ken's web site provides additional details on his background and offerings which are appropriately called sculptures. You will find Ken is very accommodating on fulfilling your desires.
Ken placed first in his class earlier this year in a World Cup 2012 International Competition in Germany, link is on his website, but in German. He has been invited back for the 2013 event.
The profession of wood sculpturing is much larger than I was aware of.
