1979 Jeep CJ-7 with 304 V-8, 3 speed, 4 inch lift, Dick Cepek wheels with BFG's, new paint & interior, etc. Bought it for my son's 16th birthday in 1991. He says it's his, but the title is still in my name!

It's doubtful that that will ever be a classic/collector car. Just sayin'.
Although, I'm sure it's a fun car to drive.
I've often wondered what will happen to the entire classic/collector car industry in say 50 years. Will a whole new generation take over the classic enthusiast role? Will anything prior to the 80's be collectable, except for possibly some of the expensive exotics?

Hmmmm...let me play devils advocate - here's, I believe, the same car for $28,000, reduced to $26K and then to $25.5 - it may have sold at that price.
2004 Mustang Cobra Terminator For Sale (Screaming Yellow Convertible) - SVTPerformance
My guess is that you paid much more - yes, only 161 made - but, used price dropped significantly already - plus the outlook doesn't seem bright for a price increase in our lifetimes - there are ton of 'special' limited production mustangs out there - I doubt that any of them will be truly collectible, meaning (to me) that the price will increase over time.
