My guess is that you paid much more - yes, only 161 made - but, used price dropped significantly already - plus the outlook doesn't seem bright for a price increase in our lifetimes - there are ton of 'special' limited production mustangs out there - I doubt that any of them will be truly collectible, meaning (to me) that the price will increase over time.

Sarcasm will not make your Mustang a classic/collector car in your lifetime. I'll give you $5,000 for it, delivered to me in CA and subject to inspection. I'll also need for you to pay the sales tax and license fee, plus a smog check fee. That way, the purchase will be an 'classic' in many ways, for you and for me.

With that said, do you have anything to say about the facts posted above? All I'm saying - your car will never be a classic - it will simply devalue itself as it sits in your garage - I also have two of those type cars - a Lincoln and another Ford.

What did I do to upset you? I simply don't see modern cars turning into classic/collector cars as have cars pre-1980's. I could be wrong - I was just asking why you think that your mustang does and will continue to have classic/collector status.

You've got to have $40K+ in the car and it's now worth $28K or less, so when will you be able to breakeven?

I call it a different generation. We have had a lot of the 86/87 Buick V6 Turbo's over the years. (My daughter is heavily into them ) . I still have a 66 GT350 convert we bought in 1974. Guys will come to my place for Buick parts an walk right buy the Shelby. 99.9% don't know or care what the car is. Look at the kids today with all the rice stuff. Their performance car will be a Honduh

I see your point, but kids now are simply doing the same thing that those of us that came of age in the late 50's and 60's - purchase and fix up whatever is affordable. I'm saying that when the current crop of kids get older they will not crave Buick's from the late eighties - causing them to increase in value based on the demand - or practically any other car made since the 70's. Yes, some of them will still be 'fun' to have, but will they increase in value at the same pace as, say muscle cars from the 60's have to date?

I also wonder about this part - once we all pass on, will the next generation 'support' the market for Shelby's from the 60's, Corvettes, etc? Just because we crave them and have them, will they even want them and be willing to pay an increasing price or will the market evaporate - sort of like gone with the wind?
