It's been a while since I have posted as well. Been around since October of 2000. I'm currently building another Unique. My second one. Just got the body back from the paint shop last week. With any luck I should have it on the road by next year.

That was one heck of a walk from California. I'm glad you made it. It looks like Georgia has internet after all.

That must be a bit of a culture shock living there vs California.

PM on the way.

Still have the Cobra and finally got billboards for it. Would have liked the Avons but the price was a little steep. We are going to see if the local guy that welds cages for stock cars can do a full width bar of it. Won't look original, but it doesn't have a 427 in it either so I don't really care and can't get tutoring for a competition license without the full width protection.

How are things up at the lake?

Brent,

The lake is in very bad condition as we have had the driest year in history. Several small fires during what should have been our rainy season and we stayed on high fire alert all year for the first time ever.

As for the Cobra, the regulations here to get your SCCA license are pretty strict also. But they lean to the safety side which I think is good. When I was racing I only had to do one thing to mine but now they have added more things which don't bother me as I no longer race.

Mr. Fixit, I was looking back at some of the old conversations about stuff and reminded me we were just up in Door county back in August. Not as much Grouse here in WI as there used to be either, I think the coyote and wolf and bobcat population may have something to do with it. Still a lot of turkey even though they have several seasons per year. When we bought our house out here in the country my wife woke me up about 4:30am and asked what that noise was. I told her it was just turkeys. She has hated the things ever since.

I'm sure there is culture shock out there.....so far I haven't ventured out to experience it because the weather has been so ****ty!

The weather finally improved about five days ago so I am out more now. I know the roads are a hell of a lot nicer in California.....but I guess they should be given all the regulations and taxes.

I am more and more interested in moving to Florida though.....I am NOT putting myself through another crap winter.

Only hunting I have done in the last five years was a couple of pheasant hunts in North Dakota with extended family.

I never did get any hunting done when I was in CA. My daughter had a mentor license last year and has to take hunters safety this year. I will take it with her in case we ever get out west.

There's nothing like putting up with some real weather to make you realize how spoiled you are.

I heard that the East had a bit of weather this year, but we suffered here also. I had to wear a sweatshirt more than a few times this winter. It was brutal.

I was this >< close to moving to MN in fall last year, now considering FL instead of the plains states due to this last winter bring so harsh. Got family in both, and kinda want to live closer to family.

I couldn't do Florida. Too humid, too hot and too close to Disney.

I am already right near the other Disney, so that's a wash.

Having grown up in the Chicago area, I know crap weather.

I recall being in Orlando about 10 years ago when it was 74 degrees. I couldn't stand it. It was so muggy I needed a shower 15 minutes after I went outside. I couldn't handle Florida or pretty much anywhere but the west coast.

I have been ruined by the coastline of California. I often think where I could move to retire. The answer is always the same. It's so bloody expensive here, but I rather live a more modest life here than live anywhere else in the U.S.

Every once in a while I pop in to look around, I have moved my focus to Tr-6's for awhile but most likely will be getting another Cobra soon.

(chuckle) It looks like the last time I was on the forum was about this time last year. Just lurking but still around.

I admit, I was also "offline" quite long, or frequently...
Seems that a lot of the guys from 10 years ago have left, or lost interest.

I try to recall their names, but struggle. Maybe because I didn't meet any of (you) them!
Well,I had dinner with one group of SPF owners when they came to South Africa with Randall Thomas.

I joined after Vegas in 2000 and never visited the US of A since, because it became such a long flight after I moved from Germany to SA.

Since I am approaching 10 years, I remember when this forum was fun.

The ownership kept making more and more different rules and regulations. This caused some of the well-funded guys to stop posting.
