Fred, That is a great looking bike. Nice to see that you are reverting to your second childhood.  You should have a lot of fun on it and at the price of gas that alone should make it fun to ride. By the way, I never noticed where the GPS and home movie systems are mounted. :D Ron %/ |
Ron
That stuff is in the trailer! Come on out here if you like the cool weather ... just hit 100°F :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE |

Warren,
So was mine and I sure wish I had it back now. I saw one just like it on a car show that some guy had with his car and he said it was worth over $3K now and it was exactly like the one that I had, right down to the paint. I think my parents paid about $25 dollars for mine and that was a lot back then. That was when we used different sized rocks for money. Ron :D |

This is Josh seeing how it feels.Right after is rolled off the delivery trailer.Harley guy fixing to attach windscreen. He really didn't want to get off. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...XL_Medium_.JPG I finally get a chance to sit on it. Windscreen installed.Goes on and off in seconds with 4 quick release latches.Same with the back rest,2 latches and it's off. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...XL_Medium_.JPG Returning after a tour of the neighborhood and before the approaching t'storm. It had been 37 years since I was last on a bike and I could certainly tell. I'm going to get some time on it before I give my only son a ride. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ide_Large_.JPG |

Fred, That is a nice looking motorcycle. What's that old saying, "once you learn to ride one you never forget." I am sure that Josh could learn to ride it very quickly on his own. Enjoy the vacation and I hope the storms don't mess it up to much. Ron :p |

Add your name
I usually don't pass along these "add your name" lists that appear in my email, but this one is too important. This one has been circulating for months and months. Please, keep it going! To show your support for Hillary and encourage her on her run for President of the United States in 2008, please add your name to the rapidly growing list below and send it on to your entire e-mail list. 1. Bill 2. Chelsea 3. Ron :D |
Nice looking bike. Josh looks cool sitting on it, and will be the envy of all his friends. Now all you need is a spot for Frenchy.
Hope the weather is nice for your vacation. It's 88°F here and its only 9:30AM. It hit 100°F yesterday. Its tough when its too hot to go for a ride (Yep, I'm a hot weather wimp). **) **) |
Warren,
At least you understand what I was saying when it was 118 here and I said it was to hot to go for rides. But try and tell that to some of the people around here. All they can say is, "You have an open car, how can it be to hot." They can't understand that the same 118 degree heat we are standing in doesn't change just because the car was open. Oh, and I am sure that Fred is going to let Josh take the motorcycle for rides once he gets used to it. Ron :D |
Johnny Carson
It was so hot ...
How hot was it? It was so hot I didn't even put out the rubbish! I'll just let it go until next week. It's up to 101°F right now. Of course, the desktop weather channel still says they expect a high temp of 94°F today! **) **) |
Just got back froim having Mary cut my hair. All 9 of them. She said to call her before she goes to Salt Lake next month and she would do it again. Not so hot here today as it is only 95 with hardly no humidity. I am going to put some stuff in this post that I received, so it will be a long one.
YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID EIGHTH PLACE: In Detroit , a 41-year-old man got stuck and drowned in two feet of water after squeezing head first through an 18-inch-wide sewer grate to retrieve his car keys. SEVENTH PLACE: A 49-year-old San Francisco stockbroker, who "totally zoned when he ran," accidentally jogged off a 100-foot high cliff on his daily run. SIXTH PLACE: Buxton , NC : A man died on a beach when an 8-foot-deep hole he had dug into the sand caved in as he sat inside it. Beach-goers said , 21, dug the hole for fun, or protection from the wind, and had been sitting in a beach chair at the bottom Thursday afternoon when it collapsed, burying him beneath 5 feet of sand. People on the beach, on the outer banks, used their hands and shovels, trying to claw their way to Daniel Jones, a resident of Woodbridge, VA , but could not reach him. It took rescue workers using heavy equipment almost an hour to free him while about 200 people looked on. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital. FIFTH PLACE: Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed in Lompoc , as he fell face-first through the ceiling of a bicycle shop he was burglarizing. Death was caused when the long flashlight he had placed in his mouth (to keep his hands free) rammed into the base of his skull as he hit the floor. FOURTH PLACE: Sylvester Briddell, Jr., 26, was killed in Selbyville, Del , as he won a bet with friends who said he would not put a revolver loaded with four bullets into his mouth and pull the trigger. As Ron White often says: " You can't fix stupid." These people prove it is a terminal condition. As always, competition this year has been keen. THIRD PLACE: The following mind-boggling attempt at a crime spree in Washington, DC appeared to be the robber's first (and last), due to his lack of a previous record of violence, and his terminally stupid choices: 1. His target was H&J Leather & Firearms; A gun shop specializing in handguns. 2. The shop was full of customers - firearms customers. 3. To enter the shop, the robber had to step around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door. 4. A uniformed officer was standing at the counter, having coffee before work. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up, and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, the police officer with a 9mm GLOCK 17, the clerk with a 50 DESERT EAGLE, assisted by several customers who also drew their guns, several of whom also drew and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt in the exchange of fire. HONORABLE MENTION: Paul Stiller, 47, was hospitalized in Andover township, NJ, and his wife Bonnie was also injured, when a quarter-stick of dynamite blew up in their car. While driving around at 2 AM, the bored couple lit the dynamite and tried to toss it out the window to see what would happen, but apparently failed to notice the window was closed. RUNNER UP: TACOMA, WA . Kerry Bingham had been drinking with several friends when one of them said they knew a person who had bungee-jumped from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in the middle of traffic. The conversation grew more heated and at least 10 men trooped along the walkway of the bridge at 4:30 AM. Upon arrival at the midpoint of the bridge they discovered that no one had brought a bungee rope. Bingham, who had continued drinking, volunteered and pointed out that a coil of lineman's cable lay near by. One end of the cable was secured around Bingham's leg and the other end was tied to the bridge. His fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at the ankle. He miraculously survived his fall into the icy salt water and was rescued by two nearby fishermen. "All I can say" said Bingham, "is that God was watching out for me on that night. There's just no other explanation for it." Bingham's foot was never located. AND THE WINNER... Overzealous zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt (Paderborn, Germany) fed his constipated elephant Stefan 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged- up pachyderm finally let it fly, and suffocated the keeper under 200 pounds of poop! Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded on him. "The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground where he struck his head on a rock and lay unconscious as the elephant continued to evacuate his bowels on top of him" said flabbergasted Paderborn police detective Erik Dern. With no one there to help him, he lay under all that dung for at least an hour before a watchman came along, and during that time he suffocated. It seems to be just one of those freak accidents that proves... "**** happens." SEE? YOU REALLY CANNOT FIX STUPID....... Ron  |
Finished the third book in the trilogy.
Hmm... this feels good. |
So now you can go for a ride, maybe?
After 3 days with at least 95°F temp, it looks like 4 straight sunny days with temps in low to mid 70's. The tank is full, and I'm itching for some nice rides after 3 days of AC. **) |
Warren,
Just how many miles do you normally drive on your rides? Mine varies from around 30 to sometimes over 100. Sounds as if you are going to have some really nice weather coming your way. How about some more pictures of Historical sites. Ron :) |

The rain here in Texas is something else. The town in central Texas, where I owned a grocery store, had right at 11" yesterday.Just east of there Marble Falls had 18". The middle 2/3 of Texas is under a Flash Flood Warning/Watch.That is around 180 counties !!! We are going to try to weed our way through the flooded areas tomorrow and get to the beach. It has been sunny and dry down there.:) |
Fred,
Good luck and I hope you can make it through the flooded areas. Texas is sinking under water and California is burning. Enjoy the vacation and maybe the weather will stay nice while you are there. Ron :) |
we have been so lacking in rain- the drought was a good 3 years- and now the dam has burst!!!!
water water everywhere! we are definitely appreciating it as we have been short for so long, but wow, a little break for it to settle in the cracks in the ground would be nice! Our pool almost overflowed yesterday!! more today. we are most grateful, tho'. :) k |
I'll take 3 or 4 days of 95°F weather anytime as compared to the rain fall (or shall we say water dump) in parts of Texas. Its ONLY 88°F here at noontime.
Ron - my typical cruise is for 2 to 3 hours and mileage between 30 and 60 miles. Now that the cruise nights are in full swing, I can go to a cruise every night of the week within 40 miles of my house. I used to make about 3 to 4 cruise nights a week. But lately I've just been exploring new towns during the afternoon and skipping some of the cruise nights. |
:)
Warren, You are lucky. They did away with all cruise nights up here several years ago and will only allow the 2 hour one for the big April car show. In fact Redding is so bad that if a cop sees your car go through the main drag twice in 30 minutes they will pull you over. Now the downtown area is like a ghost town and they can't figure out what to do. All of the businesses have moved over to the Enterprise area. :) Ron :( |
A cruise night around here is just a bunch of owners parked in a parking lot. Chew the fat with everyone - get some food or whatever the sponsor is selling. Two Wal-Marts in different towns have cruise nights.
One of the best cruise nights around here is at a Voc Tech School. Always have 300 cars. The club I belong to had a cruise at a local industrial park with over 400 cars on every Monday night. But it was too much work and we stopped doing the cruise (it was 30 miles away from our club, which made it difficult). Most have a DJ or at least tunes and usually a 50/50 raffle and some prizes ... best of X, best Y, etc. On a Thursday night I can go to six different cruises within 50 miles of my house. |
