HLC, sorry 'bout that. How's Gus?

wtm442 11-16-2006 03:30 PM

Kristen
Don't worry about the guys with guns. Its just a sustitute for something else - you know what. I've never owned a gun.

Did you decide on what color yet? Went for another ride today. It got up to 72 ºF and the streets were 90% dry.

Bought a Santa suit for the Xmas parade. Only $158.00    Now all I need is a shopping bag full of "penny" candy for the kids. Pray for good weather on Sunday 26 Nov. Our hometown parade draws over 100K people.

Can't you be shot for saying that in Texas?

hey,littlecobra 11-16-2006 08:10 PM

hmmm. probably. I do have 3 antique rifles hanging on the wall of my living room. along with a reproduction pistol.... and a couple of turkeys and hmm 3 deer, and......
This is in my LIVING ROOM, mind you.
I have fired one gun in my life. Made one shot. Best shot of the entire competition*, and won a frozen turkey my mom cooked for thanksgiving. :)

I am very good at everything I try. ;) I just don't like guns!! they are loud and scary and kill people. And i don't have any stats to back this up, but they probably kill more people BY ACCIDENT than intentionally. (except wars/etc)

* in high school, the Jr. ROTC held a 'turkey shoot' competition in the rifle range of the school. My teacher was a deputy reserve with the Dallas Sheriff's Dept. He showed me how to aim, how to 'breathe' and how to pull the trigger. They had several categories- best shot female/male teacher, best ROTC shot (male/female) and best shot- student -male/female. Maybe another category or two. don't remember...
Anyway, I'm a good learner, and I took my one shot. Best shot of the day for a female student. :) won the turkey!! :p
I just don't like guns. I do admire a beautiful piece of workmanship, tho'.

ok, carryon. I let ya'll do the he-man thing. :)

Tru,

Here is a link to the CR report on LCD and Plasma TVs that was just out in the headlines about 10 minutes ago.

The hobby was making them...NOT owning them. I have MY guns and will pass them on to my sons.

I am not going to make any more.

:D

flipper35 11-17-2006 12:31 PM

I wish I had the time and patience for that.

trularin 11-17-2006 03:50 PM

What? Kids?

flipper35 11-17-2006 03:56 PM

Well, that too! Our daughter is pretty good though and isn't too bad to deal with.

I meant the building of an accurate firearm. If I had the money to splurge on one thing I would get a Shiloh Sharps .45-70. I think the .45-110 would be more of a pain in the most literal sense than a -70.

Em is interested in shooting, but I think part of it is just because her dad is. She isn't ready for the real thing yet, but I got her the Buckmasters TV game that is a scoped rifle you shoot at targets on the TV.

She likes working on the Cobra too, which is good because I am on 7 cylinders after Wednesday nights ride.

trularin 11-17-2006 04:36 PM

Well, I like the 338 Win Mag for big. But, most is 30 06, and an assortment of others. :D

12 G for shotguns.

flipper35 11-17-2006 04:49 PM

I like the 30-06 and usually carried a .357 with me too to shoot at the 'yotes when I was field dressing the deer.
