Fun for the feeble minded. Beam me up Scottie. Time for my pills.

Too cold and windy for a Cobra ride this afternoon, so I think I'll take my sail-car out for a ride. I may start selling replica's with the price of gas skyrocketing.

When the team for the Americas Cup was developing advanced sails, they were seen driving about with full sails connected to vehicles to check their designs.

When the team had finished, they won the race the following year.

Tru,
Having more than a little experience in sailing, including a Trans-Atlantic ...there is no way they are going to attach a full size America's Cup sail to any car that isn't permantly affixed to conrete.
These Mainsails average 100 feet in height,10 stories tall.
The forces and leverage are huge !

Must mean scale models of the full size..:)

morning everyone

Grilled brisket yesterday and dang was it good.

Double wrapped if heavy foil, seasoned and put on the grill at 400* for seven hours I turned it over at 4 hours and did nothing else. You could cut it with a fork and it was very juicy as well. Ummmmm, mix that with some tator salad and some ice tea. :)

Hope everyone is alright, I have been so busy lately.

Joe Wicked 05-18-2008 11:15 AM

Sounds good Steve. We did a little grilling yesterday too, but no brisket. I made about 2lbs of Jalapeņo poppers (slice jalapeņos lengthwise in half, get rid of all seeds and membranes, fill with cream cheese, small strip of chicken, cooked, wrap in bacon and grill until the bacon is cooked. These are always a winner. We also did some brats, sausages, hot dogs, hot links, and burgers. Had fruit salad, tater salad, cole slaw, macaroni salad, meatballs, and a few other things too I think. Turned it into a block party and about half of the neighborhood was over.

I am glad I decided to motivate and get my patio done last weekend. I didn't finish until just a little bit ago, but the sun is hot today. I couldn't spend much more time out there, but it is done. As soon as I cool off, I am going to get a few pictures and post them up.

Here are some pictures of the patio. It is approx 8 1/2' X 30'. I am putting the grill at the far end and some chairs with a fire pit in the center.

wtm442 05-18-2008 07:33 PM

Looking good Joe.

Steve - I cooked some brisket Thursday too. But it was a boiled corned beef dinner, with potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage. Just you basic Irish dinner. Had leftover the last 3 nights .. will probably have grilled corned beef and cheese sandwiches tomorrow made with Irish soda bread.

Celtic won! Whew! Close game.

Threw my back out on Wednesday. It $ucks.

Ron61 05-19-2008 01:48 AM

:)

Joe,

Nice job and it looks great. Now that the work is done you can start to enjoy it.
It is supposed to be cold here today. Back below the 100 mark and little humidity. I believe it is supposed to drop all the way down to nearly 90 for our high by Wednesday.

Ron :D

Joe Wicked 05-19-2008 06:53 AM

Thanks guys. I started this project last fall (October I think) and it is good to see it done.

Ron61 05-19-2008 07:19 AM

:)

At least you accomplished something. That is more than I have managed to do in the past year. I just seem to get farther behind every day. I am going to see if I can hire my neighbor with his tractor mower to mow the upper lot and out front as I just don't feel like getting out in this heat and dust to do it with my walk behind mower. It was cooler last night than it has been for a week so maybe we will have a few days of below the 100 mark before it goes to the 110+ stuff.

Joe Wicked 05-19-2008 07:38 AM

We have been lucky the past 2 years as far as heat. 2 years ago our first 100* day was in early April. Last year it wasn't until late June and this year it hasn't hit yet, but it may today. Depends on what channel you watch, but the lowest prediction is 97*. Highest is 101*.

I do know it was hot as hell in Mexicali last week.

392cobra 05-19-2008 08:35 AM

Joe,How long did it take for you to do all that work on your patio ?

I am really impressed with how you got all those different sized/shaped rocks mated up and with such little gap between them !!

Looks Muy Goodo !:)

trularin 05-19-2008 08:47 AM

Fred, they made a movie of it.

Showed this lady driving around with a huge sail on her truck.

I am not a sailing person, You are probably right about size.

:D :D

4RE KLR 05-19-2008 09:36 AM

Joe,
The patio looks great. Do all that stuff when you are young because you will not want to later on.

Warren,
You threw your back out?? I thought you said BB was at TRU's?
Hope you get better soon

Ron,
It is time you had someone else mow all of your yard not just the upper part. You are going to hurt yourself trying to do everything. Yo have paid your dues man let the kids do that stuff.

Dang.... 98* here today is the word in the news. YUK I hate this heat!
