I think I tore the tendons by looking at it. It looks very similar to how it did when I injured it in 93. I have a huge lump on the outside of my ankle about 1 1/2 times the size of a golf ball, and my whole foot is 2 times the size of normal. I have bruising all around it, so it is less than then, but I have less tendons to damage. It has the same look.

I went 4 years without surgery, they kept telling me it was just a mild sprain every time I would twist it, as I could still walk on it. I just have a very high tolerance for pain. growing up working on a farm, you learn to work through injuries and no matter how you feel, the animals still need fed. After they finally took x-rays, I has split the bone and the tendons ripped off. The first surgery was to try and re-attach the tendons in 97, when that did not take, the Navy processed me for a medical discharge. In Oct 99, I had the 2nd surgery, to remove the damaged tendons and re-build, knowing it would be a temporary fix. I stopped playing any kind of sports, running, or anything that could injure it. I have known, it was a matter of time, because it was not strong. Last night, I was setting up the sprinkler for the lawn, and it went. I think I tripped over the hose initially and trying to regain my balance was it. I went down hard on the driveway, skinning both of my knees badly.

About to go get another icepack and relax back for a while.

Sometimes in a case like that they are just ready to go and it could have happened even if you were just walking and never tripped. It sounds painful and I hope that you can find out quickly what has to be done. Best of luck.

It has twisted on me a few times over the last year and change. Last one, laid me up for a day, but I could walk on it within an hour or 2. It was one of those, walking on the carpet in the living room. nothing to trip over. I think the tripping, made it worse, causing me to put more weight on it when it went. Just a combination of events. I knew it was just a matter of time, but I was really shooting for the 10 year mark.

I won't say it was all bad, Saturday Morning I helped Miles get his electrical problem figured fixed. He had pretty much figured out what the problem was. Easy fixes are always good. Plus Saturday night we had another neighborhood BBQ. That makes 7 weekends in a row.

The last surgery I was out of work for 7 weeks. I have plenty of time on the books, but I was looking forward to selling a lot of this time back later in the year for some extra cash for some projects around the house.

Dang Joe, I am not sure I would go buy a lotto ticket or some other "chance" event.

Warren, good to hear you got your garden in. Keep everything watered and you should do great. Here is a trick: Take 50% of volume of a 5 gallon buck of compost and put it in the bucket. Then mix 50% distilled water into the same bucket and get the compost to sink in the water. Do this in the morning. Set out in direct sunlight for the entire day.

About 7 or 8 at night, strain the water off and sprinkle the water on your garden.

Ron, I am good with hunting again, but I would prefer to go with Gerry. He is a good hunter. Timing is also a factor, going now would not be as good as going in Jan.

Compost tea! Its a lot easier to wrap up some compost in a old rag (pillow case is good or torn sheet) and let it sit in bucket. Stir every so often.

I've never heard of using distilled water rather than tap water. Also, I never water my plants or veggies at night. Everyone always says that if they do not dry out, it can promote fungal growth.

I sometime use the packaged tomato food (Scott's I think) about once or twice a month. Then at the end of the season, I sprinkle some Epsom salts around the plants and water it in to promote more tomatoes in the fall.

Last years crop of cukes was terrible. The year before that I made tons of bread & butter pickles. Any tips for cucumbers?

Well just back from a drive in the 69. Not to hot today but really quite humid and that car generates a lot of heat too. Looked at the speedometer and I now have 40,943 miles on it. Time for a new one. But it gets such good gas mileage that I hate to think of parting with it. :LOL:

Well the good news is nothing is broken or severed. It is one really bad sprain though. I have a walking boot on now, and later will be changing to a lace up brace. He couldn't really tell much about the condition of the tendons with the swelling so when I go back in 4 weeks, I get to find out if the lace up brace is a temporary or permanent feature. The best news is I do not need surgery right now, the last one is still holding. No fusing in my near future.

I wouldn't be surprised at all.She might have a thing about fish.

That is good news. I hope that the boot works well for you. If you can avoid surgery and everything will heal on its own it will be stronger. At least that is what my doctor told me years ago when all the tendons in the back of my knee tore loose while I was warming up for a racquetball tournament. It took about 8 months, but I have never had a problem with that knee since. In fact i think it is the only part of me that doesn't hurt.

You are fortunate that they will allow cruises there. They stopped them here years ago and now if they see the same car go through town three times in 30 minutes they will ticket them for cruising even if they are the only car. And they can't understand why downtown has become a ghost town. Even back when I was working and we had to ship circuit packs by Greyhound, I would come down and park in one of the parking lots to take the package over to be shipped and when I returned to the car there would be at least two cops waiting. It finally got so bad the telephone company went to the city and told them that we had to park for more than 30 minutes sometimes and this is in a city parking lot with meters that read two hours for crying out loud. I maybe go through the downtown area once every 6 months but just drive through. The old mall they build it mostly deserted and falling in.

Warren, do the tea and then...later 1/4 bar of felsnaptha ( spelling ) disolved in water and sprayed on the plants and fruits will keep the bugs off. Not great, but it works.
