Warren,I always appreciate your retirement tips.:)

BTW - How high can you lift TG ?

wtm442 11-20-2008 09:36 PM

20 inches if I use my 3 ton floor jack. But its a chore ... it takes a lot of pumps.:LOL::3DSMILE:**):p

GMEO,

Well it is Friday at last. And somewhat warmer this morning as it is on 47 right now but there is a cool wind blowing. Yesterday was a lousy day as it was foggy and wet most of the day. It is supposed to be in the upper 60s to low 70s this afternoon with sun.

Warren,

I can't walk into any store and come out without spending at least $100 dollars. The prices here are going up pretty fast in the food stores and I am starting to notice some shortages of certain things. Not sure what the reason is, but the shelves have been bare for the past three weeks.

Ron

wtm442 11-21-2008 04:16 AM

GMW

It got down to 18°F last night but it's really warmed up .... to 21°F
I love central heat in my house! **) **) Time for a swim ... the ocean temp is 54°F :LOL:

Hey Ron - dentist appointment Monday. Just thought I'd make you feel better. Need to check if implant is AOK for bad tooth. Kiss a few thou goodbye.

Ron61 11-21-2008 04:43 AM

Warren,

If the implant and everything checks out good, when will you have the rest of the work finished? I have an appointment the first part of January and I am already dreading it. Good luck with yours.

Ron :p

Joe Wicked 11-21-2008 04:44 AM

34° here right now, with a high of 52° according to the weather channel. Supposed to get down below freezing tonight, and then warm slightly for the weekend. Highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.

I was up a bit early today as Trina's ankle was hurting really bad when she tried to go to the bathroom. Got her doped back up and she is doing OK with it. She is going to call the doctor today so she can talk to him about the pain and get an authorization to refill her pain meds.

Ron,
I have noticed similar occurrences here. My wife and I were shopping the other day and we both noticed the shelves were not stocked very well with some items.

I asked one of the clerks as he happened by what's going on. He stated that many companies are starting to just deliver the food stuff and will no longer stock the shelves themselves. It seems there have not been 'stock boys' in grocery stores for awhile as the stores have made the vendors stock their own products on the shelves. They are now refusing to do that as the prices are so out of whack they are loosing money.

The vendors make the delivery personnel stock the shelves as part of their pay and they are the ones refusing to do it.

He said there are also a lot of people just buying the very basic (insert cheapest) foods they can just to get by right now.

It is very frustrating when you can't even afford to feed your family..... In America!

wtm442 11-21-2008 02:53 PM

GAW

Boy, do I love my remote starter. Nothing better than getting into a 70°F car when its 30°F outside. Makes the trip to the store almost an enjoyment.

OK, time to drink my Dunkin coffee and watch some TV. Tough duty, but somebody has to do it. :MECOOL:

I think it will get alot worse before it gets better & I don't think it's gonna get better for a long time. :(
Just my .02 cents
Regards,

Ron61 11-22-2008 02:41 AM

Unfortunately I think you are all correct. I asked the store manager here why some things weren't being stocked any more and he said they either couldn't get them on a regular basis or the price was so high that they would not be able to move them since about 85% of the people in this are are retired and on fixed incomes. Some of the fruit I looked at was really sad looking and I was surprised they would even put it out. Time for me to get a garden tractor and plow my upper lot and start a garden there.

But I believe that one way or another we will come out of this mess, probably in a better position than we have been in as a lot of the unneeded fat and other things will no longer be around. However I do fear that the price of living once this is over is going to be much higher. I am just taking the stance of watching what is going on and riding out the depressing economy. One nice thing is I only have my monthly bills to pay as everything else I own I paid cash for when I bought it. But we will survive in some manner.

Ron :)

Ron61 11-22-2008 06:07 AM

Ah, cool here this morning but not cold like Warren is enjoying. I used to have a remote starter for my car but she moved away.

For Fred,

Cowboy headstone.

Rip Jfk

On this day in 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while visiting Dallas, Texas. Where were you when you got the word?

English class in high school.

I heard that Fred was on the fifth floor of the school book depositary in Dallas, making out with BB in the corner.

hey,littlecobra 11-22-2008 07:38 AM

hi. just checking in.
Gearing up for a chilly afternoon and evening down in WACO for the quarter finals.....

Go Chargers!!!!! lol lol

Graham turned 16 on Monday, and a cutie girl (not girlfriend, just female friend  ) planned a small party for him at a mexican food restaurant last night.
He was quite surprised and that was fun!

I did finally take him to get his license on Wednesday, as he couldn't sneak away from school before then.

He has received the '96 land cruiser from Peter, and Peter moved 'up' to the '95 F250.
:D

As a senior, and going off to college (hopefully!!) he will get a new basic truck in the not too distant future.
My new cute Highlander was selected by #3, who just turned 12. #4, who is 9, will then inherit it from her.....

The girls won't get 12 yo cars, just 4-6 or so. :D :D :D

David is ready to sell his big truck. Probably trade it in on a smaller one for Peter.

Ok.... so it's chilly here. Everybody cold, too??
except Mike of course. Have the fires subsided some??

We bought a new puppy. Or rather David on his 3rd glass of wine at a benefit auction last saturday bought a new puppy. That i am now the 'mother' of.
she is sleeping right here by me....
she is a dachsund!!!! 7 weeks old. Darling of course for now.

Well i'll let ya'll know how our team does at the football game.
go chargers!! oh yeah... i already said that!!!

have a great day!

GMCC

Dang it is cold outside this morning. I had to put on a long sleeve shirt. ;)

Knock on wood but it seems the price of gas is dropped to a reasonable amount for now. I noticed yesterday that it was at $1.65 for reg.

I guess the Saudies are still pissed about getting the tanker jacked by pirates with a $110 mil of crude on board. It seems they do not like the terrorist concept.

DUH...... Me thinks they forget who INVENTED THE CONCEPT!

Ron61 11-22-2008 09:03 AM

Steve,

I got the lowest priced gas I have seen up here for years the other day. It was $2.08. I couldn't believe it had dropped that much since I last filled up. And a couple of people have told me they saw some in Redding at $1.99. I can just see it go up by a huge amount when things start to get better.

In 1963 I was talking to a couple of places about going to work for them when I heard the news about Kennedy. :(

It's up to 45 deg. and cloudy, time for a ride.

The Harley group I'm a member of,North Texas Chapter, was the first to log and verify 1,000,000 miles in a year.

Today we turn in our miles for this year.Has to be in person.
We are trying for 2,000,000 miles this year.
I got in 13,000 YTD.

In 1963 I was walking home from school and a woman came out of her house as I walked by. She stopped me and told me what had just happened.

Joe Wicked 11-22-2008 10:13 AM

1963 was 10 years before I was born. Dish network guy is on the way to change/upgrade my service. Kinda messed up that I had to cancel my account and open a new one under my wife's name to get the same rates that they give to new customers, but I do not like direct TV channel packages as I end up paying even more for what I have, and there is no cable, fios, or other tv for me out here. So I guess it isn't that bad.
