Ron,
I remember a couple years ago you posted pictures of a crane tower (I think) that was used to build the dam, and was now exposed. Is it getting close to being back under water? |
Joe,
It is about 65' under water right now. When that old tower bottom is above water the lake is down so low that is is back into the main canyon and that is only about 1/2 full. I believe that picture was when the lake was down almost 100'as they went in and cut some more off of it and let it sink. Ron  |
I seem to remember that it was at 100' low now that you mention it. I did not remember that you said they cut it down again. Years back now when we had our drought, Lake Lavon was so low that an old bridge was exposed. It was a farm road bridge that crossed the major river that is now the center of the lake. In other areas I heard reports that you could see the roofs of buildings (farm sheds that were out in the fields) when it was a calm day and the water was still. There were some older guys that were telling stories of before they closed the road and how they would go sit out on the bridge and fish even as the damn was filling up. I guess it was a slow process as they were letting a lot of water out to go down stream into the bigger dam. It was built because of a drought and the main lake was low.

Joe,
If you go to my Photo Bucket account you can see pictures that I took last Summer when the lake was the lowest it has been since they first filled it The old highway bridges, old railroad tunnels, and the town of Hemet. And some remains of scattered houses and places that hadn't been out of the water since the dam was finished. After they cut more off that old tail tower, the lake has to be down by about 115' for it to show and there was a good 10' of it sticking out last Summer. Ron |
Well sometime early this morning we had a very light sprinkle. Just enough to wet the grass on top and it never even got my driveway wet all over. But the forecast is for showers today so we may get more later. I believe the low last night was around 56°.
Ron :) |
Morning everyone.
I hope everyone is OK. How's the leg healing Ron, is it getting any better yet? Yea, we had another snow storm here last week but today it is nice out. We have a little cloud cover but it is really nice. Sorry for being AWOL guys but I have been real busy and that is a good thing. It is actually kinda nice for the phone to be ringing again. |
:)
Hi Steve, The leg is better but I don't think it will ever be back to normal. Still a lot of spells of itching and some spots show up. I think the infection got so deeply into the bone that is is just going to have to work its way out over time if I live long enough. It really doesn't bother me much any more, so that is good. Glad to hear they you are doing well and keeping busy. It is just misting here today but is supposed to have good rain next week. Ron :) |
Greetings!
We, our group at work, moved! I am now on the second floor. What a trip. For three days it was trash, pack and unpack. I have not worked this hard since...last week. :D How are things? :D :D :D |
:D
Wow Tru, you are moving up in the world. When you get to the top floor with your plush office let us know. Ron  |
Good to hear the leg is getting a little better.
Thanks for the tank pics Ron. What an amazing story. Hard to believe it was under water for so long and didn't rust apart. Even harder to believe with very little work the engine started right up. Wow, they don't build em like that anymore. What a great part of history to recover, a tank that fought on both sides of the war. I need my sunglasses here today. It is beautiful outside! |
:)
Steve, It is nice here today but is supposed to rain through the weekend and into next week. So I used the nice morning to go down and get 5 gallons of that 93 octane Ethanol free gas to use in my lawn equipment. I noticed that some of it is getting harder to start and they told me that was because of the increased ethanol content. The small engine shops around here are swamped with chain saws, lawn mowers and such that have to be taken all apart and have all the pieces of rubber hoses that crap ate up cleaned out of them. The $3.99 a gallon for this gas is a lot cheaper than having to wait and then pay $150 to get them to clean everything up and get it running again. Ron |
;)
Good morning all. Well here it is Saturday and if the weather forecast is correct our last nice day for a while. They are forecasting rain for the next 3 to 5 days depending on which forecast I look at. Oh well, at least I got all of my mowing and digging done so I can just sit back and enjoy the rain. I also went down and bought 5 gallons of the 93 octane non Ethanol gas to use in my lawn equipment. It runs much better on that and I am going to take all 3 of my 5 gallon fuel jugs down and have them filled. Ron :D |
That was a good one Ron. Should I ever, I shall not stay long.
Hey, there is a contest to win a copy of my book. Since you will not buy a copy, maybe you can win a copy. 45 here, I am doing tile today. I would like a couple of 70 days to clean up the car and take her out for a spin. Gents! :D :D |
Missed you Ron.
Always look forward to your contributions |
:)
Thanks Maurice, With my health being so bad and then this nice weather I have been spending most of the days outside trying to get the place cleaned up so it doesn't look like an overgrown cow pasture. Now we are supposed to have rain for the next 4 or 5 straight days starting this afternoon so I will have all of that to do over again. I got the garden tractor and mower out and sharpened the blades, cleaned the grass out from under the mower housing, and greased it yesterday while it was nice. Today I am going to watch some racing. Ron :) |
:(
Monday again and it is supposed to rain all week. So far no rain this morning but the wind is here and it is overcast. Next week is my eye doctor appointment so I hope the rain and wind gets done this week., Ron ;) |
:(
Man, what a lousy day this has turned into. Wind all morning and overcast and cold, compared to the 75 to 89 degree days we have been having and then rain this afternoon. And it is supposed to be like this all week. Ron  |
What a lousy day here too Ron. Not from the weather, just from the marathon of meetings I have been in. Most of them for the same issue.
|
Sorry for you all, 73 and bright and sunny;)
|
:)
Darn Mike, I am going to have to move back down there. It is very cold here this morning and rained some last night. It is overcast and they are still calling for rain all week. Not heavy but windy and cold along with the showers. Ron |
