Just like I remember, scary BIG! I was driving through Yellowstone in a 300ZX, and a moose crossed the road in front of us. I gave the big fella lots of room, and patiently waited. The moose stopped, and looked at us for what seemed like eternity. Then ambled across the road to go on about it's life. WHAT A RELIEF!

I remember an experience in the BC Rockies. My wife and I were driving up to Banff and we stopped to look at a moose cleaning its "rack" in a bush. We stayed in our vehicle. A bunch of other tourists arrived and started to take pictures. A couple obviously from the big city arrived and the wife was determined to get a good picture. She got closer and closer to the moose. When she was about 10 feet away she called to her husband..."Larry...will you throw a rock at this thing and make it get it's head out of the bushes..."

With a screech of tyres, we, and most of the others left. I never found out what happened to the lady.

I think I am justified in saying "what and idiot".

Heh heh - probably just the opportunity he had been waiting for. "Now where's a nice sharp rock that will really pi$$ him off?" Guess we will
never know.

What is it about stupid people and shirts?
Does a shirt have a certain amount of intelligence woven into the fabric?
When you remove a shirt does your I.Q. drop?
Why is it when I see someone doing something incredibly stupid they are not wearing a shirt? All you have to is work in law enforcement or watch and episode of cops to know it is almost universally true.

They are running - because the moose (aka Bullwinkle) inquired about Rocky's whereabouts....

What an amazing creature!! Are they gentle giants - or are they aggressive??

Thumbs up

...

The first year my youngest son went deer hunting, we were walking a fallow field that was fairly level. As my son approached a very slight depression, a young moose suddenly rose from it. They are so tall, it seemed like they keep getting up forever and one wonders how such a small dip could hold such a large creature.

My son stopped dead in his tracks and instinctively shouldered his little .243 caliber. He was still pretty wide eyed when I caught up with him later. The other hunter we were with had stayed at his truck. Having observed at a distance, he said he had a momentary fear that the kid was going to shoot.

Interesting experience. There are not many moose in North Dakota in the southern and central regions.

I always liked the one they showed at the start of the old Northern Exposure TV series that walked down the towns street. He looked as if he was almost as tall as some of the buildings.

I stopped by Gander Mountain today and as I was making my way towards the back of the store, one of the TVs that they have on caught my eye. There was a very close view of a moose "cleaning" his rack in some brush. Not 10 feet away was some clown with a canoe paddle. He would occasionally turn back towards the camera and whisper something. Occasionally, he would swat the brush with the paddle mimicking the moose. The moose lost interest and left. If that moose felt threatened, I would have seen a videotaped death...
