Default ERA vs. Superformance

I just joined Club Cobra and I'm trying to finalize my buying decision on what to buy. From what research I have done to date, it seems that ERA and Superformance are two of the higher quality cars. I'm not inclined to put a car together myself so Superformance is more attractive than soucing the assembly/engine/painting of an ERA project. With Superformance I can have a car built to my specifications in about 4 months. ERA is evidently at least a year for them to deliver a finished car. Superformance also says their car will be about $8,000 to $10,000 cheaper for a comparably equipped car. I have not gotten far enough to verify that with ERA yet. Is there a difference in resale of the two brands? Am I correct that for a turn key car these are two of the best brands? Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ron Brostrom

You cannot go wrong with either brand. I personally love my SPF.

Here is a link to all WW manufacturers. Spend some time and check out their websites and give them a call to discuss your requirements. There are over 80 manufacturers and you will like any of the top half dozen. You will need a turn-key car or a completed used car. Spend some time - the hunt is worth it.

I've owned SPF1314 and ERA390 in the recent past, you really cannot go wrong with either or.

Both are top quality cars, and the owners of each will likely vigorously "defend" their brand. I own neither. As all will likely tell you, you really can't go wrong with either car. That being said, my personal choice is the ERA. I like the individuality of the ERA's. Most are finished with different options, different engines, different colors, etc. No two ERA's are totally alike. While there is some individuality to the SPF, many are like "cookie cutter" cars to me. Sort of like buying a Chevy. You pick your color, drop in your Windsor, and off you go. This is a plus to many buyers, and justifiable so. It's certainly not a knock on SPF, as I said they're fine cars. Just one guys opinion, which is what I assume you're asking about. Before you SPF guys start ripping me, this isn't meant as a negative about your cars, so go easy. I like the cars, I just like more individuality and variety in my cars. Just the way I see it, if you disagree so be it. They're great cars, just not for me.

Hot rodding in general, and cobra ownership in particular, is an intensely personal thing. What's right for one, won't be a perfect fit for someone else -- so it all comes down to your idea of that perfect car.

Probably everyone here will advise you to look at a lot of cars, then make the choice that's best for you. If I might make a suggestion, perhaps you could go to the upcoming London Cobra Show (June 22-24). This show represents a golden opportunity to look at a lot of cobras in one place, and talk to owners about their cars. The manufacturers are well represented at this show, as well. Im also in the same boat ...for my needs though Im liking either backdraft or shell valley..spf are very nice but has alot of options I can do with out that are standard which cause the build price to be nearly 40k..Shell Valley pretty much can accomidate everything I want the car to be..chevy powered( I know I know) ford prducts for suspension allows for alot of rims choices and BAckdraft can do the same(engine/tranny) with the exception of the suspension set up being BMW cant really do what I want with rims choice with out using an adaptor which probably isnt a good idea with over 500hp...its a long process and fortunalty in my situation of not being able to buy intil early next year gives me plenty of time to sort it out!!
