Speed Limit
In this world of politically correctness, have we gone off the deep end?

Normally Fundamental would mean a basis or basic starting point. In this case maybe it means you can use 30 MPH as your basic speed but go faster. Why not try doing 60 and see if they stop you. Then you could claim the sign is vague and doesn't state a top speed limit. Let me know how you come out with our experiment. :LOL: :LOL: Ron :) |

Ray, Don't you mean is supposed to prohibit them? I haven't seen a posted speed limit, stop sign, or stop light of any kind that stops drivers around here from exceeding the limits. I believe it was Wyoming that used to have a no posted speed limit and it was up to the state police to decide if a person was driving to fast for the conditions. I don't care for that as one may stop you for doing 40 and the next one won't stop you if you are doing 90. And now with the new phones, we no longer have to worry about people talking and running through lights. They will be playing games on the Internet. ;) Ron :) |
My post was from the MS DMV site - apparently you can go, for example, 30 (as posted) but still get a speeding ticket if something happens at or under the posted speed, as well as over that speed - seems strange to me.

The "Fundamental" part is new to me - I'm betting that there is a Fundamental section on the tickets. Sounds a little subjective - I do wonder how it goes in court - the officer can be fundamentally wrong relating to his view of the fundamental conditions.

Which brings us back to Wyoming I think it was that had no posted speed limits and the state police decided if you were going to fast. I think that has been changed due to so many discrepancies in tickets. One person gets a ticket for doing 50 on a certain place and day and another does 80 and it is ok. I don't think deciding if a vehicle is going to fast for conditions on a dry, clear day should be up to the police, hence I prefer posted signs. Warren just drive like you always do and the signs won't have anything to do with it anyway. :LOL: Ron %/ |
Based upon the congestion on that street, even 30 MPH is a little too fast IMHO. The houses are built side by side with cars parked on both sides, so a straight drive down the street is impossible. Just wondering if anyone else had seen such a sign.

No I haven't seen a sign like that here but I have seen two one way signs on the same post with the arrows pointing both directions. After calling the city to find out what was going on, they said they just had one sign that had the arrow pointing in the correct direction, so they used the other one instead of paying to have a new sign made. Okay, so you are fundamentally driving along and you see this fundamental speed limit and you fundamentally exceed it to which a policeman fundamentally pulls you over and hands you a fundamental speeding ticket for breaking the fundamental speed limit. You go to fundamental court and answer fundamental questions about your fundamental infraction of the fundamental speed limit to which you fundamentally pay a fine.
