P51 Mustangs!
Hey! This is for all of you Aviation buffs.
http://www.gml2007.com/
Supposedly, there will be 100 P51's, as well as other older aircraft there as well. Also, the Thunderbirds will be putting on a show both Saturday and Sunday.
This is at Rickenbacher Airport, just south of Columbus OH. This is from September 27-30.

I have a real love for the P51.
By far one of the best looking fighters.

I actually got to fly a P-51 once, it was the most incredible 15 minutes of my life. If my Cobra is half as much fun as that was when it's finally finished, you won't be able to wipe the smile off my face.

Ditto on the Mustang. The P-51D is my favorite fighter of all time.
Some others on my list are the F-4U Corsair, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk and of course the awesome twin boom P-38 Lightning
Entering the jet age, I like the F-14 Tomcat (sat in one once), but the most beautiful jet fighter ever built has to be the F-104 Starfighter (aka "widowmaker")

I respectfully request consideration of the F4 Fantom. The last aircraft to require a real aviator.

The Phantom IMHO ain't pretty but it was a capable machine. I probably would have liked it more if it wasn't for the fact that it kinda replaced my beloved Starfighter.
Then along came the incomparable Tomcat...

Having ridden in a couple of 51's and flown T-28's I can say with some authority that I know why all the old flyers are deaf as stones. Man them things are loud inside!!! I wore an active noise reduction headset in the 51's and just pulled them away from my ears breifly at takeoff power and it made my ears buzz. The 28 is no better. When I am alone in the airplane I jam foam earplugs in then wear my helmet with active noise reduction.

Yes Jay - the P-47 T-Bolt was the spiritual ancestor of the modern day A-10 Thunderbolt (aka "Warthog"). The more attractive bubble canopy, replacing the old razorback configuration debuted with the "D" variant.

My all time favorite aircraft. Considering I am ten miles from the show, me and some of the other Cobra folks will be there. Hoping for a Cobra, Mustang photo op

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the Spitfire.
I got to go for a ride in a B-17 last summer. I was amazed at how smooth it was. However there sure isn't much between you and the outside air.
