Doesn't NFL stand for the National Felons League anyway? This used to be a joke but now it is becoming quite appropriate.

Absolutely nothing will change as long as 1/ the stands are full, 2/ the TV money keeps rolling in, and 3/ sponsors keep dooling out the $$$.

Look at the sports section of your newspaper or watch the sports report on the evening news. 3/4 of it is about contracts, disputes, arrests, problems, etc. Very little is actually dedicated to the games.

Pro teams, including most players, agents, managers, coaches, owners, etc. couldn't care less about the fans, the kids, the game, or anything else. All they care about is the money. I vote with my wallet and I do not put one penny of my hard earned money in the pockets of any pro athletes. I say screw 'em all, but I am in the minority.

I think race is thrown in to the mix when it is convenient. If a person gets into trouble it becomes a race issue to try to bail him out.

This will never end so long as it is not allowed to end. We have paid the price for what our forefathers have done. Why can't we get past this issue? Do people really believe that letting a black man off because he is black will help society? I am not a racist by any stretch of the imagination. I just do not understand why it is always made a racist issue when black people are involved. I do not recall hearing a white criminal screaming he is treated unfairly because he is white. If he is guilty he is a criminal period.

I think if you commit a crime you should be punished appropriatley. Black, white or green should not be an issue in a criminal trial.

The entire OJ Simpson trial was turned into a racial issue by Johnny Cock-ring when race had absolutely nothing to do with it.

In dog fighting, dogs with negative behavioral traits (aggression, viciousness) are pumped up, fed and massaged into champion fighters. Big money changes hands and paying fans and owners are so into the spectacle that they completely overlook the plight of the dogs brought up and conditioned to compete with such a lack of focus on proper training and normal nurturing that outside of the pit they are almost completely disfunctional. Champs are treated like kings as long as they keep winning and others that can't cut it are discarded like trash. Screw the uncomfortable issues - Its all about the money and the spectacle of competition. Sound familiar??

Why did the NAACP need to be involved?! That is just rediculous! I am not racist.. i could really give a crap less if you are black, white, red, yellow, grean, purple, or blue! I have friends of all races including Middle Eastern! Who is the minority now days in the US? Why do I have to press 1 for english? Why should I have to mark the "optional" area of a job application, credit application, etc of my race? IT DOESN'T MATTER! The most qualified person should be given the job no matter of race...

Now to the role models.... Professional sports players are not role models unless you allow them to be. Your kids may want to be like them "when they grow up," but i assure you they do not want to be dog fighters because Vick is! They want to be like Vick ONLY as a player! He is a role model as a player. Him being a role model has nothing to do with his "off the field" antics! There are no kids out there who say.. I want to be Micheal Vick just because... NO they want to be LIKE micheal Vick because they want to play football and be good at it! This conversation has reminded me of the old commercials where they crack the egg in the frying pan! "NOBODY EVER SAYS, I WANNA BE A JUNKIE WHEN I GROW UP!"

Your kids grow up how you raise them! I too was whipped! I learned my lesson a time or 2! haha

Vick gets 12-18 months. Serves the mandatory 85% for federal time and is released. He will get a season suspension from the NFL which will be cut for "time served" since he will miss this entire season. He will NEVER see a $130M contract again because he will not get ANY endorsements. But he'll still make millions. Kids will continue to look up to him as a player but never as a person, just as is now... or was!

Yes and that is what is bad about it. He gets a little slap on the wrist.

They should take the house and all the land he owns and clean his wagon but good. He has set a bad exaple for everyone.

HOWEVER, we should remember he is NOT the only one doing this. He is just the one that got caught!

He is the one they wanted to catch... They didn't give a crap about the other 3-6 people that they were quick to cut deals with as long as they testified that VICK was the guy. I undoubtably think he was involved, but I think he could have stood a chance with the arguement that the people who testified against him only did it to cut themselves some slack. I hope he gets nailed! But he won't! He has too much of the "green!"

One of the biggest problems with our country is the freaking media! Do you think this war would still be going on if the media wasn't right there everytime the U.S. made a mistake? ALL of the military in Iraq is afraid to fight! If a bystander is killed it WILL be noted on the news! I am VERY lucky! Where I am located, we haven't had a mortar in months! But just a 45 minute helo ride gets you to Basra, they get sometimes 30-40 per day!!!!!!!! Because the base is so close to the city that the bad guys fire the rounds from within the city and the military WILL NOT fire back because innocent people could be killed in the process. So what is the result, they spend all day running in and out of bunkers because they can't stand up for themselves! It's a bad situation!

What I meant was not just Vick and his group but people all over the country are doing the same thing and getting away with it. Now I understand a NBA player is standing up for Vick and saying it is just a sport.

What a looser. Maybe they should go over to Iraq with you and see how they like the "Real World"

Thanks for what you do fsstnotch, keep your head down be safe.

In case anybody missed it.. some of Vick's plea agreement was leaked and is in the "rumor" zone. He has entered a plea of guilty and accepted a deal.... HOWEVER, he is not saying that he is guilty of gambling or killing dogs! So, like I said, he'll be back in the NFL!

Steve, I got what you were saying and it is totally true! I seen another NBA player "Marbury" say that it is a sport (as he understands it) and Vick was just tangled up in a bad thing. He'll come out of it! Now lets move on to the thousands of other people in the country doing the same thing! I just want to watch TV without hearing about Vick anymore!

I bet that the Judge throws out Vick's plea agreement and hits him with 5 years. That would make it a nice day.

Virginia is lining up now too.His plea agreement will make for some nice evidence against him.

The Falcons have already asked for $22 million to be given back to them. When it rains it pours, and this guy is going to get hit with a MUDSLIDE, and I am not talking about a chococlate drink either

however, it is not "likely" that overlapping happens. remember... Vick has plenty of green! He isn't paying some of the best lawyers in the business to get him thrown in jail! If VA files charges, the arguement will likely be that Vick is being treated unfairly for who he is. because the everyday joe schmo who was caught doing the same thing would have had state charges thrown out from the get go.

Roger Goodell's statement to Vick was HARSH!!! Good to see!!! indefinite suspension which would lead me to believe that he will be back. Eventually....

Indefinate, and not permanent. They want the chance to have him play again. He draws tickets, and with a scandal like this one. The sales will even be higher. The NFL is taking the moral high road, but only because it is public. I am sure they would not even have slapped his wrist if in someway it could have been hush hush. It is the ALMIGHTY BEN FRANKLIN that these people chase. Another sign of corporate greed!

Did not know we had an "in country" poster.... please post updates as to what you know is the truth... If the media warps it, tell us what you know (that is if you can).

Take care!

In a press conference Atlanta said at this point they can not say Vick is cut from the team- (contracts, etc.)

I think it is time for the NFL to step in and grow some balls and say he is Cut from the NFL!

Jams.. you are right. It's sad that Vick is now taking a roster spot away from somebody else! However, the reason he is NOT cut, is because under the collective bargaining agreement in his contract states that the team can not recoup any of the signing bonus if he is cut. therefore they get ZERO of the 22mil they're asking for, if they cut him.

Mike, if you want to know some craziness... about 4 months ago Bucca was hit with a rocket. It hit the prison and several prisoners were killed and injured. This was broadcast on TV before half of the camp even knew, and I mean.. exact #'s of wounded and dead!!!! that is just how fast the media puts it out! Not only is it not really important news.... but it let the bad people know that they are that much closer to hitting the people they want!!!!

Josh
