Hang in there Fred

One day at a time

At least it is not sex your having to give up, but then again with the "gas" you may want to hold off a little while

392cobra 09-25-2007 03:51 PM

Three weeks today !!! No Smoking.:)

Plus 8# in 25 days. Which is fine,I can use it.

J. T. Toad 09-25-2007 05:09 PM

WOW!

can you feel a light at the end? Is there a statistical cut off for success?

hey,littlecobra 09-25-2007 07:49 PM

Fred, i haven't posted on here.... but you know i know you and i can't say enough how glad i am for you and your success. Keep the faith, friend.

Josh needs his dad around a long time, and i think the steps you are taking to make that happen are admirable, and of course expected.

And you skinny dude, you can certainly use the 8 lbs. :p :D

miss seeing you around and hope all is well.
Look forward to seeing a smokeless Fred sometime in the near future.
Fondly,
kristen

3 weeks!! Way to go Fred!
So here's a question - Have you got to the point where all of a sudden you can smell smoke on other people? Or on old clothes of yours?
When my wife quit (she's since relapsed) she suddenly thought a bunch of her clothes stunk and could tell walking by someone if they had just had a smoke.
Of course, I couldn't tell her that's what I've been smelling all along. Jeesh, I'm sure glad she doesn't read here....:o

Never. I quit 23 months ago, and I still want a cigarette occasionally.

EVERY SO OFTEN I WALK BY SOMEONE SMOKING AND INHALE THE SECOND HAND SMOKE!

Ron61 09-26-2007 04:06 AM

Warren,

I once heard that if you sniff the exhaust pipe of your Cobra for about 10 minutes it will stop your wanting another cigarette for sometime.

Plus, besides being fairly low calorie, it's good exercise running back there, bending over and sniffing at stoplights. ;)

Good job, Fred. After one month, you're free... or at least your lungs think so and start to pink up. It's good to be pink... or at least I think so.

Think Pink

imagine2frolic 09-26-2007 09:47 AM

A fantastic accomplishment! Don't deny yourself the freedom of smoking. HANG TOUGH

392cobra 09-26-2007 05:58 PM

Kristen,
"skinny dude" ???  Yep,that's me,for right now anyway.:) It would be fine if I added another 15#.
Yep,you'll see a smokeless Fred.:D

Josh is a great motivater,as are all the guys that have been posting on this thread.
Guys,it really does help ! If I were to fail in this effort,I would now feel that I let y'all down and caused y'all to waste your efforts and time in supporting me in this. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
I'm enjoying what not smoking has/is doing for me...a lot more than I would want to smoke again.

Miles,
I was turning off my street onto a 6 lane they are "repairing".Heading south into a southerly breeze.Thought I smelt a cigarette and started looking around.Spotted the guy smoking about 30 yards up the road.

wtm442 09-26-2007 07:51 PM

Keep it up Fred. Frenchy will thank you later in life! **) **)

Ron61 09-30-2007 03:30 AM

;)

Fred,

Great going and keep it up. I saw a commercial on TV yesterday for Chantix and the funny thing was they had a Turtle and Rabbit in it. No Frog. Guess they figure that Turtle and Rabbit owners need more encouragement.

Ron

1 Month
1 Month

ONE MONTH TODAY !!!

Miles,
I was driving back from getting a flu shot this morning and smelt something burning.
The smell was so strong I started to wonder if it wasn't my WRX STi.It just had to be real close.
Then a woman in front of me stuck her cigarette out the window to knock the ash off.:)

imagine2frolic 10-05-2007 10:38 AM

Fred, you should be damned proud of yourself. We are just cheerleaders, you are doing all the HARD work, but we will keep yelling for YOU..... YOU GO FRED!!!!!

Madmiles442 10-05-2007 10:43 AM

Congrats Fred!! Big milestone!!

Sounds like that sense of smell is coming back. Good for you!!

Hope to see you tomorrow, the restaurant is non-smoking!

wtm442 10-05-2007 11:16 AM

Turtle says Thanks  That's one less thing he can catch when Frenchy visits. :D

In 22 days it will be 2 years for me! Time flies .....

imagine2frolic 10-05-2007 12:13 PM

Warren....2 years sounds like a celebration....WAY TO GO!!!!!!

Bish Wheeler 10-05-2007 05:10 PM

You have to talk yourself into it and make yourself believe that you really want to quit. After that what ever "crutch" you use will carry you through.
I used the patch, had to start over three times, but it worked.

Ron61 10-06-2007 04:28 AM

:)

Fred,

That is great. And congratulations to Warren too. You have both proven that it can be done and it sounds as if your system is really starting to clean itself up.

Ron :)

imagine2frolic 10-30-2007 06:38 AM

2 years for Warren, and almost 2 months for Fred....GOALS GOALS GOALS!
