Tesla Motors on TV
...
Just a heads up.
I caught Modern Marvels on the History Channel the other day and they had a documentary called "Batteries". I believe my local cable will air it again on 6 pm central time this Saturday, but I had to do a computer search to find it.
Part of it was devoted to new battery technology that will be used in the coming Hybrid and electric auto era and they had several minutes of footage of the Tesla Roadster including a segment on the super light bonded aluminum monocoque frame.
The all-electric Roadster ( http://www.teslamotors.com/ ) looks Ferrari-like and does 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds. It is claimed to have a 200 mile range at about $.02 per mile and only 14 moving parts. I would think auto manufacturers and the petroleum industry would greatly fear this. Might be a struggle to actually get to market with it.
EDIT:
17 moving parts
