School says Thanksgiving is for 'mourning'
Holiday called 'bitter reminder of 500 years of betrayal'

Seattle school officials are telling teachers that Thanksgiving actually is a time of "mourning" since it represents "500 years of betrayal."
The message to all "staff" in the Seattle Public Schools comes from Caprice D. Hollins, the director of "Equity, Race & Learning Support," and other officials including Willard Bill Jr. of the "Office of Native American Education."
"With so many holidays approaching we want to again remind you that Thanksgiving can be a particularly difficult time for many of our Native students," the letter said.
The school letter refers educators to a website, Oyate, run by an outside organization that promotes Indian culture, and recommends teachers explore it.
"Here you will discover ways to help you and your students think critically, and find resources where you can learn about Thanksgiving from a Native American perspective," the letter said. "Eleven myths are identified about Thanksgiving, take a look at No. 11 and begin your own deconstruction."

They must have some old students in that school if they can remember any of that. This crap is completely out of control. Wonder who New Years is going to offend?

I suppose Thanksgiving is for 'mourning' to some indigenous races since they see it as the beginning of being overun with "illegal immigration" that never stopped.
Actually the celebration may the fault of these very same original Americans. According to Wikipedia( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving ):
The Plymouth settlers (who came to be called "Pilgrims") set apart a holiday immediately after their first harvest in 1621. But apparently, even the Canadians beat us to this day of appreciation. The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher in the year 1578. And even earlier by natives.
"It should be noted that the 1578 ceremony was not the first Thanksgiving as defined by First Nations tradition. Long before the time of Martin Frobisher, it was traditional in many First Nations cultures to offer an official giving of thanks during autumnal gatherings. In Haudenosaunee culture, Thanksgiving is a prayer recited to honor "The Three Sisters" (i.e., beans, corn, and squash) during the fall harvest."
So the eventually conquered stone agers were probably in a warm generous mood during this early social mixer. Until these nubile Europeans ran out of food and quite likely resorted to "requisition" tactics.
So while it's good that schools somewhat dispel myths, it's also good that organizations like World Net Daily were formed to ferret out Liberal and other plots against us. Such as this Christmas story a few years ago ( http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=47330 ) :
Wal-Mart faces boycott for 'banning' Christmas
Nov. 10, 2005: When a Wal-Mart customer complained to the retailer that the store was replacing its "Merry Christmas" greeting with "Happy Holidays," she received a response from customer service that prompted calls by the Catholic League for a nationwide boycott.
"Walmart is a world wide organization and must remain conscious of this," the Wal-Mart representative replied. "The majority of the world still has different practices other than 'christmas' which is an ancient tradition that has its roots in Siberian shamanism. The colors associated with 'christmas' red and white are actually a representation of of the aminita mascera mushroom. Santa is also borrowed from the Caucuses, mistletoe from the Celts, yule log from the Goths, the time from the Visigoth and the tree from the worship of Baal. It is a wide wide world."
Catholic League president Bill Donohue pointed out that when using the company's online search engine, if the word "Hanukkah" is entered, 200 items for sale are returned. The term "Kwanzaa" yields 77. But when "Christmas" is entered, the message returned says: "We've brought you to our 'Holiday' page based on your search."
I think Ron is right. There are no holidays or joys that are not offensive to someone, somewhere.

The Seattle School Board is so far in left field it's pathetic.
They also issued a memo last year stating that the only race, that can be racist, it the white race. So if you are black, hispanic, asian, etc., you cannot be a racist.
Christians cannot have any type of recognition in the schools, but they provide prayer rooms for muslims.
And then they wonder why the enrollment in the Seattle Public schools has gone from over 100,000 students from 15 years ago, to a current 45,000 students. If I had lived within the city limits when my daughter was in school she would have gone to a private school.
