Perhaps too much sun, Ron?
Makes me wonder why the earth's crust moves around. And are our mountainous regions increasing over time because of shrinkage? One might say they are since tectonic crust movement seems to create bumps, not valleys. Interesting.

Nice place to visit.
At night its about -270°F, and during the day it warms up just a bit to 800°F.

Wes,
If I was that close to the sun with those temperatures I sure wouldn't be thinking about a Cobra. On the other hand, Warren could possibly get in a fast round of golf before his ball melted or froze and broke.

Golf might be a little tricky.
My buddy tells me that some of the new long range sniper rifles are accurate out so far that the shooter has to take into consideration the rotation of the planet. If this is true, one might also have to take into consideration the orbit of the planet, especially one that orbits as fast as Mercury.
And if the effect is both true and severe enough, Warren may have to take the same into consideration on a long golf drive. All the while he is trying to keep warm on one side and find shade on the other.
Off-hand, have you heard anything about planet rotation actually significantly affecting a long range bullet? I was a little skeptical and I know you enjoy the target hobby.

Wes,
No, I hadn't seen or heard anything about a long range rifle that the rotation of the planet has to be taken into consideration. The latest Sniper Rifles I have seen pictures of and read about have an effective range of about 1 1/2 miles in the hands of a good shot and they have to consider gravity. Even the short range missiles ( 100/250 miles ) don't have anything in the specs I have seen that say anything about the rotation of the Earth. But I don't get all of the latest books and papers on this stuff any more so I would guess it could be possible.
My idea of using the rotation of the planet to good effect would to be an anti gravity round or shell that you could just hand in the air, point it toward the direction the Earth would be rotating the target to it, and set it to explode when the target gets there.

How about Uranus? Is that shrinking too? Does Nassa have a probe for that as well? Have they measured any assteroids to see if they are shrinking as well? I'll bet that black holes are sucking everything in, so the universe is shrinking and will soon collapse on itself in the opposite of the Big Bung.
I'm really bummed out now...

Steve,
Now I am going to really give you something to worry about. I think they said our Sun would burn itself out in another 5 Billion years. Maybe we had better start our spaceship now.

Now if we could just add Fred's Avatar to the front of Jamo's we would really have something. Just not sure what.

Doesn't Mercury do this...all the time due to temperature?
