CAD software
I found a number of free CAD programs, but not sure any of these will work. I need a simple 2 axis program for a novice...like me. Anyone recommend a simple to learn CAD?. I'm not drawing anything complicated, it just needs measurements and degrees.
Thanks

Most of the freeware stuff (if not all) are going to be viewers only. You'll be able to open CAD files and view the contents but you won't have the ability to generate or modify CAD files.
I'm not sure how much CAD is these days, I could talk to our IT guys. You can get a CAD "light" version that's not as expensive and doesn't have all of the advanced features.

For learning tool on dimensions and perspectives, try google sketchup..a really neat novice program more design oriented that manufacturing. If you want something better, try Alibre free..awesome program for CAD/CAM. I use it to run my Mid Mill CNC. Another solid program (purchase) is TurboCad. Comes in one pack with 2d and 3d with tutorials and a lot of tools. Was about $40, don't know now.

We use cad07, with several flavors of older versions. We also use Revit structure, building and systems for BIM modeling. We also use TurboCad a lot. It's a very capable package that really is under appreciated for it abilities.

Here is an older free version of Intellicad, an Autocad clone.
Download this file: Intellicad.zip
Unzip it into a folder, then make a shortcut to the icad.exe file.
