Al,

Not to detract from your post, but I believe that was posted once before some time back. I forget which forum it was in, but maybe a search will locate it.

Edit: Here it is. Another gas thread... but a bit different, interesting

Hi Bob!
I heard that the "jumping up" technique can also be applied to elevators? LOL

Also, jumping out of race cars just before impact can be helpful. Back in the day a driver named Masten Gregory used to do this. My parents were at either Goodwood or Silverstone and he did this right in front of the bleachers they were sitting in. Just before the car wrecked, he jumped out! landed in the bleachers and dusted himself off LOL
