Yea, and he even replaced his Avatar with a better one. I know the other one was Mr T, but every time I saw it I thought Obama, and this guy runs trains?????

Thanks even more for changing the Avatar. And I do have a serious question about the trains and how they schedule them. I realize that you probably don't know the whole system, but on the freight and passenger trains that travel across country, how do they work it so they have no conflict of being on the same tracks at the same time. Also I talked to a railroad person here and he told me that here a West bound train is one going South from Washington or Oregon and one going North from San Francisco to those states is considered an East bound train. Is that just BS or is there something to it. I live abut 1/2 mile from the main line as it starts through the canyons and I had always considered any train going North as North bound and any going South as South Bound. From the way this person described it, there could be no East or West bound trains from here.
I know that on the highway system the Odd Numbers are from North to South and the Even Numbers are from East to West, or were at the start. They may have that all changed by now.

Tracks run east/west and north/south-that's it.Number 1 track is always on the north or the west.

A train running from Tucson to Phoenix is considered a west bounder even though by the compass it is heading north.

As far as Amthrax(sic) goes, they are supposed to have priority. Most of the time they do.But the fact is,the present infrastructure is reaching capacity and a lot of times they are delayed by as much as a day.

UP plans on running 100+ trains thru Tucson PER DAY when double track is completed. They also plan on building 3 new yards. Two in Az.One in New Mexico.

Thanks Bill,

I believe that as we see the price of fuel go up, there will be more demand for trains. The little driving that I do any more, I would say that our freeway traffic here has dropped by at least 70% and I don't see the 18 wheelers lined up for miles on the freeway. The last two trips up to Redding I would have places that it was a 100 feet or more between vehicles and just a short time ago you had to stay in whichever of the 3 lanes you were in as traffic was bumper to bumper. I also see from 4 to 10 18 wheelers parked off the freeway over in the Project city area and a couple of them have been there for a week or so. Diesel has not topped $5 a gallon here. I am designing the sails to mount on top of my car as an alternative fuel.

Ron

WRONG. I always thought you were smart Ron.

Cobrabill's last 3 avatars were that famous UK comedian that passed away quite a few years ago (Hint - his name rhymes with Bennie Hill).

I always use the line, "Not to mention any names, but his initials begin with Bennie Hill."

Ok, so I messed up on the Avatar. It still made me think of Obama. I like this one much better. Makes me think of a person that would have a Turtle as a pet.

If Benny Hill dressed as Mr. T makes you think of Obama, then just about any body whose a$$ ain't lily white must give you the heebie jeebies. Maybe its a good thing you don't get out much anymore ol' buddy.

Buzz,

Edited To Reword as I am having trouble making this sound correct:

Buzz, my statements about the Avatar making me think of Obama had nothing to do with race or anything like that. It was just a joke and that is why I used the smilies. If you took it otherwise, then accept my apology as I am not a racist any more than you or anyone else on here. I will admit that I don't like Obama or his wife, but it has nothing to do with his race. If you are a Obama supporter, then that is your right and I don't argue with you about it. I don't think anything that I posted in my posts about the avatar could be used to claim I was putting him down or that I am racist.

Ron

I've been known to swear every so often. I did a lot of w**k yesterday ... so today is an official day of REST (especially since its supposed to be very humid with temps in mid 90's ).

OK, back to the subject of this very important thread.
