Public hangings on the courthouse square at high noon on saturdays would be good.....I bet crime rates would drop like a rock.

I could not agree with you more. When immigrants come to the US they want all the benefits and more of being a citizen. EXCEPT when they get n trouble. I have NO problem with people coming to America, I just want them to follow our laws and respect our GOD!

It was Singapore and he spray painted parked cars. He was caught and got a bunch of lashes with a bamboo cane. It left welts and drew a little blood. The media was reporting all kinds of outrage, but I do not know 1 single person who was outraged. Everyone that I have ever talked to on this felt that he got what was deserved. I was fortunate enough to be in Singapore just a few years after that incident and I thought that their laws were excessive (chewing gum is illegal, spitting in public is illegal), but they are the LAW. Obey it or be punished. There is not any trash on the street. I saw the owner of a new Ferrari pull up to the curb, leave the door open, engine running and went into the store. Several people looked at the car and admired it, but not 1 person made a move to steal it. Just the fact that he felt safe enough to let it run with the door wide open for the quick couple of min he went in the store spoke volumes about the crime rate there. You can't get away with doing that with a 15 year old Honda here. While I was there they had a public display of punishment. A man was found guilty of rape and murder and was publicly executed at the town square. I saw the news report on it on the train from the docks to downtown. Only a few people showed up to watch, but it was televised live on the local TV stations. His trial was just 1 month before his execution. They allowed 1 month for the lawyers to find evidence of his innocence. They figured if he was innocent, the evidence should have been presented at the trial.

They still have the old scaffold over at Old Shasta in the jail yard where they used to hang the criminals here. It is a museum now but quite interesting. The cells are located just inside and it is a very short walk out the back door and onto the scaffold. No Death Row or such. Anyone in any of the few cells was eligible.

I live in small town America, population 6,000...we do have our share of crime, mostly drug related crimes, and maybe 2 to 4 murders a year.....it's still too much.......but I feel pretty safe and so does my family here, a lot of times I forget to take the keys out of my car at night and never lock it at home, in town I always take my keys out when going into a store, but rarely lock it...........

It used to be quite safe and relaxed down here up until fairly recently. Unlocked cars, open windows at night, front door open all day , whether you are at home or not, and a murder was a relatively rare occurrence that made the news headlines and outraged the country. It's all different now. Lock everything up, security alarm systems and an average of 30-odd murders a year; which, in a population of +/- 175K people, gives us a pretty high per capita murder rate.
People chalk it up to the price of progress, but I refuse to accept that. I think we are allowing it to happen by not standing up to it and fighting for the open, free, relaxed lifestyle we used to enjoy. We still have beach parties at night and into the wee hours of the morning, but in groups. Taking your significant other to a secluded beach for a skinny dip at midnight is no longer advisable, and many of us think its time to take our country back. Good people still outnumber the bad by a huge margin, so if it comes down to it, it shouldn't even be much of a fight. All it takes is the will and fortitude to say "Enough!".

The good old days....we never locked our doors, left the car keys in the ignition switch at night, no bars on the windows and no gang problems. Everyone talked, using proper english and yes a little spanish and showed mutual respect to all.

Well now things have changed, we must take charge and work to get our standard way of life back...insist on everyone measuring up to basic American standards and values.

In Mexico, the government steals from Americans that travel there ( I know from experience). They detain you at the drop of the hat and make your experience difficult.
They treat their own people poorly and the result is illegal immigration and the likes. When those folks come to America and commit crimes they should be dealt with fairly and swiftly.
Texas has the right idea...just hang the SOB and get it over with.
I'd be glad to give them some assistance if they needed it, in fact they should ask for volunteers for the job.

All of you are forgetting that the trial by peers and death penalty are the LAW
We should not use hatefull words when speaking of these men who were found guilty of murder by a trial by their peers and now will face their lawfull sentance. Justice will be done. I would not hate a scorpion or snake in my home. just kill it.

It's a good point Nester and I think most of the guys posting here really do understand that. It's typical for the 'talk' to become inflamed during a discussion but cooler heads usually prevail when it comes right down to it.

Along those lines and in accord with International standards I would hope these men, horrific though they be, were allowed counsel by the home country, Mexico in this case. I would expect the same, help and representation from American embassy personel should I get in trouble in a foreign land.

It's easy to say you should be held accountable for your crimes according to local law, but local law can be difficult to understand in a foreign land. You go into a store, buy an apple, a language problem ensues, confusion reigns and you leave with the apple thinking you paid for it. But maybe in the eyes of the local's you STOLE it! The law demands your HAND BE CUT OFF for stealing. I would hope that country allows someone from the USA to represent your interests, even if it means eventually your hand WILL be cut off! We can't pick and choose when and to whom we will listen to when it comes to International law, it needs to apply to all countries.

If an Illegal Alien should break into my house,car or attempt to assault me,the Counsel from their home country is more than welcome to say a few words over him at his grave site.

He broke the law when he came to this country illegally.

He broke the law (locally) when he joined a gang

He broke the law when he was drunk in public

He broke the law when he was selling drugs

He broke the law when he rapped two minor children

I think you are being insensitive and maybe a little bias when it comes to citizens from another country .
I'm willing to bet that there was not one single person on our side of the river to greet him and teach him the rights & wrongs of his new home.

With Texas having a different language,culture and laws,how could he be expected to know ?

If someone had told him that rape & murder was frowned upon in Texas,I'm sure he would have stayed home where such activities are no big deal. Heck,they understand that everyone makes a mistake.

Who said that hate has anything to do with this. You can want a person punished by death and not have to hate him. I wish there was a way to get around this but there isn't and if I had to shoot a person to protect myself I would, but I would not hate them. Hate only serves to cause a person to rush and spoil their aim.

I don't hate anyone, and a trial by their peers is great, if there are caught!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if someone breaks in my house, regardless of what country he's from, he'd better hope I'm home and not my wife.....she'll shoot him dead before he knows whats happening, I, on the other hand would be more likely to not shoot first and ask questions later, should my life or anyone else's life be threatened, then all bets are off, I'll start blazing away......

In Louisiana, we have and have had a "Shoot the Burglar" law for quite a few years now, basically it says you can use deadly force to protect yourself and family if someone is in your home. It has been tried in court a few times and so far, the homeowner has always been found not guilty of any crime, and in one instance, a homeowner shot and killed someone that was outside his home in his front yard and he too was found not guilty of any crime......

About 25 years ago, I awoke to a truck (with a busted muffler) idiling in my driveway with it's headlights shining on my truck and wife's car, two teenagers were looking into the 2 vehicles for something to steal when I snuck up on them with a loaded revolver in hand. I turned on the outside floodlights and they just turned around and "froze", not expecting what they saw. They were both looking down the barrel of a Ruger 41 magnum. I told them there was nothing in those two vehicles worth dying for and that they had 5 seconds to vacate the premises and if they ever returned, I'd shoot first and ask questions later, they couldn't leave fast enough........

I'm all for cops and the legal system, it may not always work the way we want it to, but it's still the best system in the world. The cops can't always protect me or my family, especially when we're home, so that leaves it up to the homeowner to protect himself till the cops can get there......
