Well written argument 'for' M/P
....................
THE NY Post today enthusiastically urges the election of Sen. John S. McCain as the 44th president of the United States.
McCain's lifelong record of service to America, his battle-tested courage, unshakeable devotion to principle and clear grasp of the dangers and opportunities now facing the nation stand in dramatic contrast to the tissue-paper-thin résumé of his Democratic opponent, freshman Sen. Barack Obama.
McCain has been in Washington for many years now, but he is not of Washington. He knows where the levers of power are located - and how to manipulate them - but he is not controlled by them.
McCain's selection of the charming, but rock-solid, outsider Sarah Palin as his running mate underscores the point.
Neither plays well with others.
And this is an unalloyed asset at a time when special interests - lobbyists, lawyers and organized labor chief among them - wield enormous influence in the nation's capital.
McCain's Democratic opponents, Obama and Sen. Joseph Biden, lead a party constructed of special interests - public-employee unionists in particular.
There are many reasons to support the McCain-Palin ticket. Here are but a few:
* National security: The differences between McCain and Obama are especially stark.
McCain says 9/11 represented a two-decade "failure . . . to respond to . . . a [growing] global terror network." He understood that Iraq is a critical front in the war on terror - and he urged perseverance even in the dark days that preceded the success of "the surge."
Obama backed policies that would have abandoned Iraq to its fate, he bitterly opposed the surge, and once insisted that US forces invade Pakistan in search of Osama bin Laden - seemingly without regard for the potential consequences of attacking a nuclear-armed nation, ally or not.
Regarding a nuclear Iran, McCain has pushed for the strongest possible international sanctions and diplomatic pressure. Obama opposes sanctions.
And, when Russia invaded the former Soviet republic of Georgia, threatening a return to the Cold War, McCain reacted with stern disapprobation: "We must remind Russia's leaders that the benefits they enjoy from being part of the civilized world require their respect for the values, stability and peace of that world."
Obama called for UN action - unaware, apparently, that Russia's Security Council veto would have prevented any.
* Taxes: McCain knows that when government absorbs ever-larger shares of national income, the economy High tax rates diminish investment, killing jobs and stunting growth.
And while Obama promises tax cuts for "95 percent" of Americans, what he actually is proposing is some $650 billion in tax-credit-driven hikes in entitlement and other spending, to be paid for with heavier imposts across the board, but especially on investment - like a sharply higher capital-gains tax.
This is bad news for the millions of ordinary Americans who own stocks, either personally or through pension funds or who plan someday to sell their homes or other real property.
McCain, wisely, vows to keep capital-gains taxes at 15 percent and to keep the Bush-era tax cuts in place - understanding that new growth will boost revenue, and promising to make up the rest with spending restraint.
And he's called for a one-year freeze on most discretionary spending and an end to pork-barrel giveaways.
* Trade: "I object when Senator Obama and others preach the false virtues of economic isolationism," says McCain - noting that "globalization is an opportunity" for US workers. He adds that while emerging economies like those of China and India are worrisome, the answer is competition informed by education and innovation - not protectionism.
* Energy: On the economic issue most vexing Americans today - energy prices - McCain is aggressive
He is a strong convert to offshore drilling: "We have trillions of dollars' worth of oil and gas reserves in the US at a time we are exporting hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas to buy energy."
He also strongly backs nuclear power - a carbon-free form of energy that America can produce relatively cheaply.
Obama, meanwhile, hews to the Democratic Party line on energy: no nukes, no drilling and no comprehension of the consequences of such policies.
None of this implies an iota of disrespect toward Obama. It took a formidable candidacy to defeat Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton - a candidacy, by the way, which we strongly supported earlier this year.
And the intelligence, the organizational skills and the ability to communicate that Obama demonstrated from the beginning dramatically underscore the history that is being made by the first African-American to head a major-party presidential ticket.
He should be around for a long time, and we hope that he is.
In the end, though, sound security, economic and energy policies - plus allegiance to principle - are critical to keeping America safe and strong.
On all counts, John McCain and Sarah Palin understand this - and that's why we're in their corner to the finish.

He tried wearing a turbine once, a Pratt & Whitney I believe. Damn near took his head off when they started it up. That's why he's sporting that mean comb-over job now!

But, in Obama's case he brought the Muslim outfits with him from his closeet at home.
By the way, can you point all of us to a list of BO accomplishments in public life? Also, does BO send a tingle up your leg like happened to Chrissy Matthews?

Barack Hussein Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth."
In an interview with Nicholas Kristof, published in The New York Times, Obama recited the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, "with a first-class [Arabic] accent."
The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:
"Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet... "
According to Islamic scholars, reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim. This simple yet profound statement expresses a Muslim's complete acceptance of, and total commitment to, the message of Islam.
Obama knows this from his Quranic studies -- and he knows the New York Times will publish this fact and it will be seen throughout the Islamic world.
Regardless of Obama's religion, what message is he sending the world's 1.2 billion Muslims?
I suppose it's easy for Obama to remember the Shahada for the 35 years since he left Indonesia -- and in 'first-class' Arabic -- especially since he believes the Muslim call to prayer is "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth."
The fact that Obama can recall the Shahada after 35 years and the fact that he believes that the daily call to prayer is "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth" say that those Muslim prayers run through his head often -- what does that make him?

Sounds like a "change" of position to me
"...It took a formidable candidacy to defeat Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton - a candidacy, by the way, which we strongly supported earlier this year."
Sounds like this editorialist didn't get their way (namely, Sir Hillary) and now wants to take their toys and go home. No sense playing with the enemy (Obama). If memory serves, Sir Hillary is also a junior senator (we won't mention the carpet-bagger thing). So are we to assume simply LIVING in the Whitehouse creates a better junior senator that one that doesn't? It's clear the author has made his choice since Hillary isn't on ticket but wouldn't you like to know what this person would be saying if she was the VP choice? I would be very interested.
Ronald McDonald McCain (RMM) is a joke as presidential material; althought there's no denying his military career and service as a senator. With that being said, RMM couldn't see a recession if it was knocking at the door of any one of his seven houses. McCain wants to keep spending our tax dollars, in addition to lots of borrowed cash, in Iraq until the job is done. What job is that, exactly? Even al-Maliki wants the US out at this point. RMM says stay the course, finish the job. Stay the course, finish the job. Who does that remind you of?
"Change is coming to Washington" - what RMM said at the GOP convention
"Short-changed is gaining in your rear-view mirror and it is much bigger AND closer than it appears!" - What RMM meant
Guess who just got tapped to bail out your long-lost cousins, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Yep, that would be all of us. I know my calculator doesn't have that many zeros but there's no way the US can burn that kind of cash here and abroad, cash it doesn't have, protecting us from the "axis of evil". If our newly-elected president can't comprehend the issues facing our ecomomy, how can they begin to formulate a plan. I like the idea of a president that's smarter than I am. In fact, if I should hear them uttering a fancy, uppity word, I'd be inclined to dig out my old Merriam-Webster and thumb through a few pages to look it up. Nothing wrong with learning, I hear it combats the onset of Alzheimer's. RMM is 95% of the time a clone of GW, he's just slower to the punchline. I don't see much change happening on "HIS WATCH".
Palin has yet to "speak" on her own and no one thinks this is unusual? Give whether her selection was brilliant or "bust" (yeah, you know what I'm talking about here). Give us just one public interview without a script and then we can judge her as a condidate. And some one should let her know the interviewer will be asking specific details surrounding timelines of her famous, "bridge to nowhere. I told'em I didn't want it". My question is, "Why did you still take the money?
And this from a person whose always voted Republican (for president, at least)...go figure. At least I don't have to vote for Hillary.

Ernie...CDC posted that earlier today...BEFORE I asked folks to back off the religion thing, and he has been good enough to stay off the subject. Your response, therefore, is a bit over the top.
CDC...no real reason to respond, and thanks for helping us out here.
Again, everyone...please stay focused on the ears.

This is interesting in that BO spent about 125 days in the Senate prior to announcing his run for POTUS, therefore - he must be calling this pork in from the road.....McCain has never requested an earmark.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 -- The following was released today by the Republican National Committee:
Since Entering The Senate, Obama Has Requested Nearly $1 Billion In Earmarks:
Obama Requested 330 Projects Totaling Almost $1 Billion ($935.7 Million) Since Being Sworn In As A Senator In January 2005:
Obama Requested 112 Projects Totaling $399.8 Million For FY 2008. (Sen. Barack Obama, "Obama Announces FY08 Federal Funding Requests," Press Release, obama.senate.gov, 6/21/07)
Obama Requested 139 Projects Totaling $334 Million For FY 2007.(Obama For America Website, www.barackobama.com, Accessed 9/8/08)
Obama Requested 79 Projects Totaling $201.9Million For FY 2006. (Obama For America Website, www.barackobama.com, Accessed 9/8/08)
Obama Requested A $1 Million Earmark For The University Of Chicago Medical Center Where His Wife Had Just Been Appointed Vice President:

Maybe he did and maybe he didn't. But he did co-sponsor that immigration bill wiith Ted Kennedy, and then he was against his own bill, after he was for it.

Like other senators, including mine, they change their position because the majority of the people made it known, that bill was unacceptable. As usual, the people reacted when they should have been proactive with what's going on in Washington.
When they were throwing around idea's such as ID cards, guest workers, sending them back, legalizing the ones who've been here for some time and working on their citizenship. It got everyone's attention when they decided to legalize them all.

MCCAIN HAS NEVER REQUESTED OR RECEIVED AN EARMARK.......VRM - repeat this over and over again and it just may sink in!
The Obama Meltdown
Here is a small list of Obama's lies
1.) Selma Got Me Born - LIAR, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965.
2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - LIAR, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.
3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - LIAR, he was part of one More..of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had
4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - LIAR, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first widespread violence in decades.
5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - LIAR, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn't allow her to have been one of 4 wives to 1 man.
6.) My Name is African Swahili - LIAR, your name is Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.
7.) I Never Practiced Islam - LIAR, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.
8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian - LIAR, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book).
9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - LIAR, not one teacher says you could speak the language.
10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience - LIAR, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even speak the language. What did you learn, how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.
11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - LIAR, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.
12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion - LIAR, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your classmates said you were just fine.
13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office - LIAR, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.
14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life - LIAR, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.
15.) I Won't Run On A National Ticket In '08 - LIAR, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.
16.) Present Votes Are Common In Illinois - LIAR, they are common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.
17.) Oops, I Misvoted - LIAR, only when caught by church groups and democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.
18.) I Was A Professor Of Law - LIAR, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - LIAR, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill - LIAR, you didn't write it,introduce it, change it, or create it.
21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass - LIAR, it took just 14 days from start to finish.
22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill - LIAR, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly because of your Nuclear Donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.
23.) I Have Released My State Records - LIAR, as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.
24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess - LIAR, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens. You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.
25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America - LIAR, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.
26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois - LIAR, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
Plus his American uncle who help liberate Auschwitz.
The 57 states he visited.
The US Senate Banking comittee he thought he was on...NOT.
And - the race is not over........his guy is a lying nutbar.
