Just tell me WHY Obama
If you support him, then why? What is it that you think he will do for this country? (lets focus on the first 100 days). Also, tell me what it is about him that makes you believe he can get it done.
If you are not an Obama supporter, then leave this alone. I just wanna hear from people who support him... lower the noise level. |
While I'm not a supporter, I do have to say I admire the man for a couple reasons.
First is his refusal to participate in a negative campaign. Second is as soon as it came out that Palin's daughter was pregnate, he stated that her family was off limits. I still will not vote for him for other reasons, but I admire him for that. |
Ernie, why not post your reasons?

If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.) DIVIDEND TAX MCCAIN 15% (no change) OBAMA 39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. When the lower 50% pay zero income tax now,how are they going to get a tax cut ?
|
Obama says that 95% of americans will see income taxes go down. He apparently is a victim of the new math. how much can the taxes possibly go up on the remaining 5% to pay for just those "reduced taxes". Plus a large number of the policies he's proposing (when you can find one) will cost more money, plus he's going to reduce the deficit, get everyone health care and save social security. What will this country look like when he takes ALL of the top 5% income?
Start to think people Until the idiot Illinois republicans put up the nutbag opponent against him in 2006, Obama was a Chicago dem party hack that no one knew of outside city hall and his district. PRESIDENT???? not hardly. |

Don't tell me you are looking forward to paying $140,000 in taxes on a previously tax free $500,000 appreciation? If you are a baby boomer and are thinking of downsizing in the next few years, that is a hefty bite out of your profit. If so, you and Obama are made for each other. |

If I tried to run my finances the way Bush has done, or the way Obama and McCain want to do i would have been sent to debtors prison a long time ago. As you said - think people - but don't just look at Obamas plans and say they stink - McCains plans are not always the smartest either. Steve |
Steve I was emblishing the "zero" because it is so close to zero it doesn't matter. They now only pay 3.6%.
The point being is that there will be checks mailed out to all these free loaders, paid for by people that are already paying for everything. It is SOCIALISM. Feeling overtaxed? Under the U.S. income tax system, most of the taxes collected are supposed to be paid by the people who make the most money. Thanks to President Bush's tax cuts, that is exactly the way the system works, says the U.S. Treasury Department. According to the Office of Tax Analysis, the U.S. individual income tax is "highly progressive," with a small group of higher-income taxpayers paying most of the individual income taxes each year. In 2002 the latest year of available data, the top 5 percent of taxpayers paid more than one-half (53.8 percent) of all individual income taxes, but reported roughly one-third (30.6 percent) of income. The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid 33.7 percent of all individual income taxes in 2002. This group of taxpayers has paid more than 30 percent of individual income taxes since 1995. Moreover, since 1990 this group’s tax share has grown faster than their income share. Taxpayers who rank in the top 50 percent of taxpayers by income pay virtually all individual income taxes. In all years since 1990, taxpayers in this group have paid over 94 percent of all individual income taxes. In 2000, 2001, and 2002, this group paid over 96 percent of the total. Treasury Department analysts credit President Bush's tax cuts with shifting a larger share of the individual income taxes paid to higher income taxpayers. In 2005, says the Treasury, when most of the tax cut provisions are fully in effect (e.g., lower tax rates, the $1,000 child credit, marriage penalty relief), the projected tax share for lower-income taxpayers will fall, while the tax share for higher-income taxpayers will rise. The share of taxes paid by the bottom 50 percent of taxpayers will fall from 4.1 percent to 3.6 percent. The share of taxes paid by the top 1 percent of taxpayers will rise from 32.3 percent to 33.7 percent. The average tax rate for the bottom 50 percent of taxpayers falls by 27 percent as compared to a 13 percent decline for taxpayers in the top 1 percent. The White House has announced it will lobby Congress to pass legislation making most of President Bush's tax cutting measures permanent. Heck, I have that much equity in my home and I have only owned it for 9 years. So you would be willing to pay $28,000 in taxes on a $100,000 profit? I'm not! |

Fred,
We have a huge welfare problem. We need massive reform of the program, and elimination of most of it. We also need to stop cutting jobs and wages. You posted that the bottom 50% will fall from 4.1 to 3.6%. This is because they have no money, and are below the poverty line, despite the fact that many of them do hold jobs. I've said it before - you will create more jobs and earn more profits if 85 families buy a Taurus than you will if 15 families by Ford GTs. Trickle down and trickle up work together, but our current political parties only support one or the other at a time. Steve |

And don't tell me that no one in America has $100,000 in appreciation dollars after owning their home for 20-30 years. |
Now you're talking!
I just resent working hard and handing my money to those who choose to sit around and have children with their hands out looking for assistance. Call me a radical. |
