Well it shows that lots of politicians on both parties were given money by Fannie and Freddie, but who voted to remove oversight?

'What they can gain', on the money Ron!, and it goes for both parties. That's another reason McCain is the obvious choice, because he doesn't need the money or any other gratuities. 'O'NO! still hasn't explained his underhanded mortgage favors and the almost 1 billion (with a 'B') dollars in earmarks he requested as a 'JUNIOR' senator. Nuff said.....

OK but why is McCain's campaign manager still getting paid by both Fannie and Freddie?

Not my statement. Just a cut and paste. Edit: I did the math roughly in my head and it is way off.

I'm against the $85 BILLION bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a "We
Deserve It" dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bona fide
U.S.
citizens, aged 18+. Our population is about 301 million counting every
man, woman, and child.

So, 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up.

Now, divide 200 million, 18+ adults into $85 billion - that equals
$425,000.00 each!
Yes, my plan is to give that $425,000 to every adult as a "We Deserve
It" dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So, let's assume a tax rate of
30%. Everyone would pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25.5 billion right back to Uncle Sam! It also means that
every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife would have $595,000.00!

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00?

* Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved
* Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
* Put away money for college - it'll really be there
* Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs
* Buy a new car - create jobs
* Invest in the market - capital drives growth
* Pay for your parent's medical insurance -health care improves
* Enable Deadbeat Parents to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U.S. citizen, 18 and older (including
the folks who lost their jobs at Lehmann Brothers and every other
company that is cutting back) and of course, for those serving in our
Armed Forces.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult
U.S.
citizen!!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

* Sell off its parts.

* Let American General go back to being American General.

* Sell off the real estate.

* Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it
up.

We deserve the money and AIG doesn't. Sure it's a crazy idea, but can
you imagine the coast-to-coast block party?!

How do you spell Economic Boom? W-e D-e-s-e-r-v-e I-t
d-i-v-i-d-e-n-d!

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the
$85 Billion "We Deserve It" dividend more than I do the geniuses at
AIG or in Washington, D.C..

And remember, The plan only really costs $59.5 billion because $25.5
billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ron,
I think it is that sort of math that got us into trouble in the first place.
85B (85,000,000,000.00) divided amongst 200M (200,000,000) is only $425.00.
It's going to be a small party.

Mike,
Every US citizen (and I am including kids, babies - EVERYBODY!) currently owes about $30K. When Bush took office we all owed $17-18K. No, I am not saying it is all Bushs fault, but he has made it a lot worse. McCain or Obama will not improve the situation either; McCain will make it worse than Obama, but only by a little.

There is a board that displays this info in NYC. The last time I saw it the thing was close to rolling over to needing a new digit place added. We are currently at 9.? trillion, and the board will need a new digit position to handle rolling up to 10 trillion (estimated to be sometime around Bushs last day in office).

Perot and Ron Paul are the only presidential candidates that I can remember even talking about working on this.

Steve,

I agree, but please read the very top line where I said it was just a cut and paste. It was not my statement and I thought it was so far off I never figured anyone would bother to work it out. I never figured it out to the dollar but just in my head I could see it was way off. The figures, not my head.

Ron,
I know it wasn't yours. It's not even your writing style! Still, somebody who can't do math wrote it, and that is what I was referring to. He is probably one of the mortgage writers, or some laid-off banker from one of the buggered-up companies who is dreaming of a big payday. He should put his $425K towards a math class instead of champagne and caviar.

Steve,

Believe it or not I received that from a person in Canada. Maybe one of our former politicians that had to leave the country tried to explain things up there.
