Default It's all my fault

The writer is a former Special Forces (3 yrs Laos/Vietnam,Silver Star) and retired Defense Intelligence Agent. He lives out in the western part of Va. It belongs in a book. It is a royal riot regardless of your politics:

I was watching the convention (DNC) when suddenly it hit me - I am the direct cause of everything wrong in the world!

I am white, I checked and am still a man, I make money, I own my house, I don't smoke crack, I know who my Father is and my Mother, albeit a bit bizarre, stayed at home and took care of us. None of them went to East Djibouti . I know one gay guy, and we don't bother one another.

Neither my brother or sister are in jail (sister questionable at times). I don't have a personal religious advisor. I drive an SUV and if the Polar Bears drown - not much I can do about it.

My wife has my name and no hyphens. I pay my bills, worked (somewhat in fits and spurts) for the Government. I personally invaded Vietnam, Laos, Haiti, Panama, Somalia, Sarajevo, Afghanistan and Iraq . Somewhere I must have mistreated a prisoner I am sure. I got a bunch of medals but can not afford Starbucks.

I don't recycle. I think there is an illegal alien living in my barn and I don't pay taxes on him. I have never owned slaves, neither did my dad, grandfather or great- grandfather. My brother does however.

I have a Confederate flag in my study - next to an American flag. I sing the National Anthem and always buy a "Buddy Poppy" on Memorial day. I don't wear an American flag on my lapel (don't have a lapel) but when I did, I wore Master Parachutist Jump Wings.

I pay a bunch of taxes but apparently, according to Obama and Joe Biden, I need to pay more.

My Father was in the Army, my Brother was in the Army and my sister was engaged to the 3rd Armored Division.

I didn't respond to New Orleans and don't intend to again because that place sucks. I think Reagan and Barry Goldwater were great Americans and don't care if Thomas Jefferson did the slaves.

Marion Barry is a great source of entertainment. I have not adopted any foreign children but my dog was born in West Virginia I paid my own way through school. I had a perfect attendance record when I went to High School - it went on my permanent record. I have never robbed a 7-11 but once raised my voice and told the VC that worked there the number is five not bive or bifteen centavos.

My finger can't punch one for English. I have the same pair of sneakers and jeans that I did 5 years ago and they were made in a sweat shop in Bangladesh . I don't pray to a donkey God. I am retired, I wear blue jeans and a t-shirt to go everywhere (much to the chagrin of my wife "you aren't going out looking like that are you?") - she has given up on "are you at least going to shave".

When we have a family reunion - my nieces point to me and tell their husbands - "That's crazy Uncle Fritz ". I don't have a Blackberry, Bluetooth, IPOD and my cell phone is out of power and is somewhere in my truck. The day I retired I threw my government beeper off the 14th Street Bridge.

I can remember the smell of the copy machine in school when you had to crank the handle and everything came out blurry.

I own guns - PLURAL - they are big and nearly all have scopes. I have a LOT of ammo.

So it is all my fault. Sorry Ms. Pelosi . It's all my fault.

That was an interesting read Warren. He does have a sense of humor and should write a book.

Well, if he can't afford Starbucks, then he is probably not going to have his taxes raised by Obama.

Seriously, is the GOP only going to win by constantly lying about the other guys platform? Get some bloody integrity!

Implying - far less than tacitly - that the Democrats do NOT?

You've previously stated you don't like either party, nor their candidates. Posts like this one gravely undermine those statements.

Gee, I just read the post as a fun post and never assigned any political overtones to it for either party. The one remark about Obama and Biden I just ignored. And as for Pelosi, I don't like her but never considered that remark as anything but humor.

Roger,
If any of the 1 or 2 DNC faithful on this forum makes a false (that I am aware of) statement about McCains platform I would be all over their case too. To my knowledge they have not, and while I do not agree with all of their positions on the issues they are at least addressing their opposition in an honest way - and that is more than I can say for a significant portion of GOP supporters on this forum.

However, just because our DNC supporters on CC seem to have some level of integrity does NOT mean that Obama or his campaign does as well. Obama and his campaign lies about McCains platform as well. Those lies from both sides are easy to document.

You have hit a new low vrm, to even suggest 'cobra bill' addresses anything in an honest way, confirms most folks suspicion you are completely brain dead.

Perry,
Please show me where he posted incorrect information about McCain. If you can do it I may even agree with you. If you can't then STFU.

And even if you do manage to do it it will still be a ratio of around 8:1 liars about Obama vs 1 liar about McCain.

"STFU" is not very nice, Steve. Next time, please tell him to "bugger off."

Thanks.

Well now damn it, as my Dad used to say: "Don't do as I do...do as I say!"

Anyway...when it gets one on one personal, calm it down a bit, and note my strong suggestions in the sticky for political discourse.

...and STFU.

Jamo,
I take a lot more than I dish out - if I responded in kind or reported posts like this misquote, to every negative comment I received you would be a lot busier, or I would be banned. I will do my best to treat people the same way I am treated. Perhaps you should consider enforcing the rules with others who push the limit/break them a lot more often than I do.

Steve,

After having spent several hours this past weekend on Obama's site and McCain's site reading what I felt were the important stances they had posted, then going to several different news media sites and reading about the same stances, it is amazing at how much the news media can distort things and still pass it off as true. I don't agree with all of what either of them say, but they both do have some good points if you can get past the crap hiding them. It would be nice if everyone could forget party lines and take the best of what both suggest, and make one good package out of it, and even then I am not sure that could get us out of the mess we are in. No one person can do that. I believe it has to start with Congress and getting rid of the old group and putting new people in that are more in tune with today's world and what is going on, rather than the If It Didn't come From Our Group we won't pass it old guard. Some of the cartoon pictures, both on this site and in the newspapers are starting to get a little on the borderline I feel. Our local paper has had several letters to the Editor about cartoons they have published, both about Obama and McCain.

Ron,
I certainly agree with you about it being time to switch out Congress. I'm not keen on the idea of term limits, but I also do not like the idea of 'professional' politicians. And both the DNC and the GOP have their share of stupidity and corruption. It would be nice to take the best of both - but because we all have different income levels, different religions, and so on then what is right for some will not always be right for others.

Steve

Steve...I'm trying to interject a little humor and keep the moderating light during the political season. Should be obvious to a person of your intelligence and apparent good breeding that my concern with your post was that it was a one-on-one snipet, and rather serious in tone...a bit different than the remark you linked. I'm trying to keep folks calm before there is a battle.

Now...by responding (whining) twice to a rather feather light moderation suggestion instead of simply moving forward and realizing that CDC and others have also had a head tap now and then, you've just gone and pissed me off a bit.

Move on. Thank you for your expected cooperation.

Ron, totally agree with 'getting rid of the old group and putting new people in'. I'm tempted to vote for the local independent challenger, the old one didn't have a republican challenger.
