At that point, does one either leave the wreck there or try and muster up the energy to tow it home and come up with one good excuse for the wife????

I witnessed a stupid tow truck operator pull a brand new Ford F-350 4x4 out of a rushing river at Pismo Beach, Calif. Everything was good (except as in this jeep video), the ford was pulled from an angle.
As the truck started to roll towards the bank on it's wheels...the surging sea wave..rolling up the small river, toppled the the truck onto it's side. The truck owner had to crawl out the passenger window and swim after his dog that got swept away into the river. To make matters worse, the truck was dragged on it's side onto dry land, thus totalling out the entire side and twisting the frame.
I assumed the truck was a total loss especialy when you consider all the salt water flowing out from under the dash board.
The sad thing was the Ford truck driver was in the river to help another guy in a Chevy Blazer that stalled out. After the Ford went over on it's side, the Chevy guy got his truck started and drove out without incident.
OPPS! Real bad day.

What were they thinking? Let's pull perpendicular to the direction of travel and lets attach the tow line to the TOP of the Jeep. I doubt the bolts snapped, more likely they pulled the body nuts through the sheet metal body. Someone would have to knock me unconscience in order to try to pull my Jeep out like that.
But then I prefer rocks over mud: http://www.azchatfield.net/pictures/...pril-June 2008

I've only seen it on TV chat, but I sure would like to try it. Cool pics....
