Wink Hey, here's a question........

......in the now-infamous Palin interview/turkey-pardon I cited above, the guy in the background is seen shoving a turkey head-first into a funnel-like apparatus. Whaddup widat? Does it (the device) lead down to a mini-guillotine? I'm not a veteran turkey-slayer, so I'm (hopefully) deferring to someone from the Heartland who may have some experience or who may have a been a witness to this delightful ritual.............

Just curious.

Head comes off, blood flows out. Poultry houses (like beef slaughter houses) are fun places in a France [FTF] circa late 18th century sorta way.

Like Jamo says , Poultry houses are "fun" places . I used to spend time in the poultry processing plants in Gainesville , GA .... and yes , the blood does flow . First thing that is supposed to be done is to stun the birds , then hang them upside down , run em through a guide , slit the neck , bleed them . Them defeather them ( a really neat machine ). Then the fun stuff starts . Kinda makes you look at poultry in the store in a different light .
I also used to work with a company that made poultry processing equipment and got to visit the R&D lab when some new equipment was being tested . Didn`t work quite right and pieces of chicken went all over the lab and there were guts hanging from the ceiling !
Kinda glad I don`t do that anymore .
