Bad Weather In West
Bad weather in the West is making a mess of travel plans. But Brent and the guts in Washington are getting to enjoy a real Winter and white Christmas.

light freezing rain here this morning. Bridges are a bit icy in spots but supposed to warm to 51 today.
Having a holiday pot luck today at work. I made a ham, but the slicer jammed last night and I cut the tip of my finger trying to unjam it. I told everyone that someone is getting an extra "TREAT" today.

Joe,
If I remember correctly the slicer that I used to have had a warning on it to not stick your finger near the blade when it was running and when cleaning to be extra careful. Of course that was when the labels were in English instead of 7 other languages.

Ron,
It isn't one of the powered slicers and that was the problem. You just slide the stuff across a fixed blade and it would keep getting stuck. I am buying a better slicer so I don't have to deal with this one any more.
Tru,
I told everyone at the pot luck that there was a special treat in there for someone. then held up my bandaged finger. Didn't really cut anything off, just the tip was cut. Not even enough blood to soak through a bandaid and be seen on the outside.
it was a damned good ham though. nice and juicy.

I live east of Salem and the power just came back on after two days. My oldest son's wife went into labor and I chained up and drove 40 miles to get to his home with both grandmas to be riding along. I drove across the Portland Metro area with my son and his wife to get the hospital all the while thinking how I was going to clean up any mess she may make in the backseat of my crewcab. We made it fine and she is in heavy labor right now with my second grandson.
Best Christmas ever!

That is good news and I wish the best for the new addition to the family.
