On a conciliatory note, I was bothered by Nancy Pelosi's overly eager applause at what seemed like scripted moments. I mean, Obama hadn't even put the period on a sentence and she was already on her feet clapping like maniac on steroids. And Biden looked like he was inconvenienced having to be there. They were a weird backdrop to what was otherwise a very intriguing speech.
Pelosi is on her way to the dark side with Bush.

I'd rather talk more about what Rodney brought to the equation...like my computer desktop background. You crack me up.

So why do you think Bush was on the dark side?
I don't ever agree 100% with any leader typically. Those who I've spoken to who know Bush personally tell me that he believed fervently in freedom. He wanted the Iraqi people to have a chance at freedom, rather then literally being feed to the lions by sadam's sons.
Have you actually read the Obama tax plan? Why don't you read this and see for yourself the money grabbing orgy of wealth redistribution... Have you heard of the fairness doctrine?

Hello my Cobra brethren (and sisteren if we are so lucky!)
I am new to this club. I just acquired a Kirkham Cobra (KMP 606). My absolute dream machine.
And the first news flash I see is talking about the oh so great and immaculate Obama.
Understand this first, no mortal man is as good as the media portrays Obama.
Sure Bush stumbled and fumbled, and the media was all over him, telling us how stupid he was!
But when the immaculate Obama gives any bad info or stumbles and fumbles, you don't hear anything!! His cool demeanor has still left the media in his trance of smoothness.
And therefore if he is going to be put up on such hi pedestal, I believe its only fare to point out all of the stupid crap that comes out... so smoothly out of his mouth. This is the man who has spent any ware from 1.3 to 3.0 trillion dollars since he has come to power, depending on who you read your news from. I know that his current bail out's alone is around 1.3 trillion. So 3.0 in total is completely possible.
I know for me as a small business owner. If my business was failing the government isn't sending me a cool Billion dollars to bail me out. But they will bail out the big corporate empire, (and I thought the Dems hated the big corporations) And if I am in the free market and my biggest competitor is loosing there shorts because of bad business practices, this would be my golden opportunity to take advantage of there mistake. But NO!! the government is going to bail them out, and thus screw up the whole free enterprise, and screw me over on my opportunity to grow. One of the big principals our country was founded on free market and free enterprise. Something similar to this was done last time during the great depression. And theoretically prolonged the effects of the great depression. Also when they raised taxes on existing companies unemployment went to 30% holy crap!!! 30%!!!!!.
Now we are looking at bailouts with some of the largest business in the country and they will be forced to have government officials to be on the board of directors until the money is....paid back....I'm sure that will happen, with the stellar track record of the governments financials.
I want to be fair to our last president too. He spent more that I thought he should. Lets not forget that the bailouts started with him. But of course the Democrats know that he can't do anything right. Lets show America how it's really done, and this is what we get!
Well I don't mean to be so long winded on my first response. But when it comes to Obama's pork barrel, I invite my self to criticize the whole Bar-B-Q, his change is not one for the better. He is not "transparent" he hid $100 million to ACORN and made the pdf versions of the over 1000+ page stimulus bill in a way that will make it unsearchable! I don't trust this smoothie with anything let alone our tax dollars!
I hope we can learn from this mistake without too much pain.

Welcome Bro...enjoy the madness.
Since this thread has wondered off to the political arena (it was on the edge anyways), I'm moving it over to the Lounge so the professionals over there can jump in.

Brigham, I love you like a brother, but, you're a doofus.
And what are you doing blogging? Shouldn't you be working? I need your tax revenue to pay for some home improvements.
Did you get your power plant yet? Mine is still a wind-up toy but when its motorized let's go wear down the Goodyears.

And sadly for many conservatives Bush's policies doomed the Republican party to second place in the election. I too am not enamored with all aspects of the current administration and I too believe that there is blame to be laid on many politicians (the fair housing act likely being the foundation for widespread leveraging and profiteering by lenders and citizens alike that was a seed to "the perfect storm") But one cannot overlook the role of the President to see these problems and attempt to fix them before they become catastrophic. Wasn't that fair housing act put in place under the Clinton administration? If so, shame on that adminstration. And Bush had years to ward off the results. I get a sense he was a bit distracted with a little skirmish in Iraq. If Bush had had more success or could have shown more capability in steering our country more than other countries I think there could be a conservative in the White House right now. But apparently that is not what average Americans perceived from the Republican party. So, they chose the opposite. Again, sadly, this perfect storm of economic woes came at the tail end of eight years of a Bush presidency. Surely not all of that was carryover from the previous administration. I hope for the best for the country and have one very high expectation of the new administration.
Challenging us as a nation as Kennedy did to "put a man on the moon before the end of the decade" with a new challenge - to stop our dependence on foreign sources of energy. I'd be grateful to see the end to a need for fossil fuel with one exception.
I want enough to fuel my gashole Cobra.

The Bush administration was blocked in 2001 by Dodd when they attempted to put more regulations on Fannie and Freddie.

Better watch that tea party talk or they'll bring Janet Reno back to show you who's got the tanks and flame throwers. I can see the news articles now:
"A band of eccentric internal conbustion and carbon spewing cult members have staved off authorities at a Provo, Utah manufaturing facility for almost 2 months now...
Their leader, a man by the name of David Kirkham eluded capture by EPA agents after attempting to apprehend him on multiple carbon emission violations, all first degree felonies punishable by 10yrs hard labor restoring "urban art" in downtown locations of cities like Chicago and Detroit.
After a spectacular high speed persuit Kirkham, joined by several other cult members began sonic attacks on several federal buildings damaging almost all pictures of our glorious leader hanging from all but the highest floor walls and disrupting vital phone communications. Damage to many computer systems also occured from the sonic shocks, rendering the agencies inept from lack of direction by leaders in Washington, Detroit, Chicago, or Paris. The group then retreated to Kirkham's production facility which is believed to be housing massive amounts of banned hydrocarbon fluids stored in secret underground tanks.
Authorites tried standard practice of ending the standoff with flood lights and sound bombardments to the facility, however the suspects then erected huge plates of mirror polished aluminum effectively driving back agents. The suspects then countered with high volume 60's style music which damaged many sub-woofers installed in Federal vehicles and rendered inoperative all hydraulic suspension systems.
It's widely believed that authorities are at a loss as to what measures to take next as agents are reluctant to attempt entering the facility after confirmed sightings of several pallets of canned chili and kegs of beer were delivered prior to the stand-off..."
Ah, what the heck. Sounds like fun.
