I buy brake cleaner by the case, It's really good at cleaning oil residue and grime, so far NAPA has the best price about $21 a case. I'll bet that simple green is the same as purple magic, a great surfactant. It's almost impossible to beat at removing dirt from tires and oil/grime from engines and stuff, your right about leaving it dry.
