Default Rules for the Non-military

Rules for the Non-Military. Make sure you read # 13

Dear Civilians, We know that the current state of affairs
in our great nation has many civilians up in arms and
excited to join the military. For those of you who can't
join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the
areas where we would like your assistance:

1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing
a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem
- kick their ass.

2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the
American Flag in protest - kick their ass.

3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay
the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see
anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and
explain how these veterans fought for the very freedom
they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many
sacrifices these veterans made to make this Nation great.
Then hold hem down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass.

4. (GUYS) If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that
you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle
Fatigues, telling others that you used to be 'Special Forces,
Collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when
you were seven years old. Now, it will only make you look
stupid and get your ass kicked.

5. Next time you come across an "Air Force" member, do not
ask them, 'Do you fly a jet? Not everyone in the Air Force is
a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass-kicking.(children are
exempt).

6. If you witness someone calling the *US Coast Guard*
'non-military', Inform them of their mistake - and kick their ass.

7. Next time Old Glory (the US flag) prances by during a parade,
get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your
hand over your heart, or if you are military or retired military you
may now salute the flag when not in uniform. Quietly thank the
military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of
course, failure to do either of those could earn you a severe
ass-kicking.

8. Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or a veteran.
We are Americans, and we all bleed the same, regardless of our
party affiliation. Our Chain of Command is to include our
Commander-In-Chief(CinC). The President (for those who didn't
know) is our CinC regardless of political party. We have no inside
track on what happens inside those big important buildings where
all those representatives meet All we know is that when those
civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the
military to go straighten it out. If you keep asking us the same
stupid questions repeatedly, you will get your ass kicked.

9. 'Your mama wears combat boots' never made sense to me -
stop saying It! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and
therefore could kick your ass!

10. Bin Laden and the Taliban are not Communists, so stop saying
'Let's go kill those Commies!' And stop asking us where he is!
Crystal balls are not standard issue in the military. That reminds
me- if you see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers,
let me know, so I can go kick their ass!

11. 'Flyboy' (*Air Force*), 'Jarhead' (*Marines),* 'Grunt' (*Army*), 'Squid'
(*Navy*), 'Puddle Jumpers' (*Coast Guard*), etc., are terms of
endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service
member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Using
them could get your ass kicked.

12. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of the
military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving
and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please
remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors,
marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their
families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make
every day. Without them, our country would get its ass kicked..'

'It's the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the
press.'

'It's the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.'

'It's the Veteran, not the community organizer, who gives us the freedom
to demonstrate.'

'It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and
whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.'

*AND ONE MORE::

13. If you ever see anyone either standing for or singing the national anthem
in Spanish - KICK THEIR ASS.

I just got back from a reunion of my old military outfit. We had a Presentation of the colors and afterward we were informed that it is proper for veterens to come to attention & hand salute the colors, even though they are not in uniform. It felt strange after 40+ years, but I'm glad I learned it

About one and a half years ago I was at a meeting in Minneapolis and a bunch of us were at a table sitting and an Army Captain came over to a table and said "whoever picked up my tab, Thank You". I did.

At the airport in Vegas on the way back from the Stones concert there were 5 Air Force soldiers at the restaurant, if you can call it that, that got their tab.

At the Shelby Cafe - the day I dropped off my SGT for the supercharger that was destined for the BJ auction last January that went for the CSCF - I stopped to have a bowl of the greatest red bean chile - and picked up a tab for a table of Nellis AFB. I asked the waitress not to say anything. When I got up to leave they all stood up and saluted. I guess the server ratted me out.

I didn't have to go to 'Nam. My lottery number was way high. Some guys I went to high school didn't come back.

And to Sgt. June, one of the first Code Talkers, thank you for my friend Frank.

I haven't always had the money to pick up tabs, but I have bought many rounds.

When I was in submarine school in the Navy, I was in Groton Ct. I was there for thanksgiving and christmas. A lot of local families offered to take in service members for the holiday. We spent it with them as if we were one of their own. It is something that i will never forget. I am looking for my day to return that favor. I think I may start that this year. Things are better for me these days than they ever have been, and my step son is now in school at Sheppard AFB. Only 2 1/2 hours away. I am going to see if the base offers a similar program, even though he will not be there during the holidays this year.

I was standing on Coit Tower in S.F. Ca. during Fleetweek. We were buzzed by the Blue Angels as ships sailed past the point. The lady in front of me softly said what a waste of money. I spoke pretty loud, and said. I don't know, makes me feel awful damn proud that these guys saved the world twice in this century! SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT!......i2f

last spring, I had a 2+ hour layover in seatac airport, sitting at the bar waiting for my flight, I saw 5 soldiers in BDU's outside the rather crowded bar with that "I could use a beer" look on them and there wasn't an empty barstool to be found.
I stood up, and said to the other customers near me, "hey guys can we get on our feet and let these soldiers have a seat and a drink?
in an instant about a dozen folks stood as one and the soldiers were invited in to sit
I bought the first round for them and shook each of their hands and thanked them for their service, then went on to my connecting flight

Gee Freddie, Joe's choice was simple. If you are on a boat that is already sunk, what do you have to worry about.

Too be 100% honest, at Meps I was asked if I would like to volunteer for submarine duty and I thought it sounded cool. In all actuality it was. I was on the newest Fast Attack sub the Navy had at the time. Still a new construction in the shipyard when I checked aboard. Missed being a plank owner by just 2 months. Ended up being a Spec Op boat and I did a lot of training and missions with the Seals, Marine Recon units, had Crypto techs, and linguists aboard, among other things. Takes a special person who is not quite right in the head to enjoy life on a sub. I really miss it at times. Quite often I have dreams at night that I rejoined.
