Actually we don't know WHEN they "got the word", it could have been the first day, could have been within hours. It is an assumption it took days to come down.
I think the key element here was when the pirates agreed to have their boat towed due to big waves at the time. With the life boat now in relatively fixed position and known distance it would be much easier to wait for the "shot", which could only be done if ALL the pirates were taken out at the same time. I think that was a brilliant strategy on the Navies part, to tow the boat.
I'm surprised NATO hasn't all ready gotten on board with this issue, seem's to me someone has dropped the ball on this. Should have been rectified long before now.
