Not Ranked
Ron, specifically I do not know, but some reasons may be:
* Lower overall cost for the Teams, sponsors etc., than NYC
* Actively seeking out NASCAR by LV, especially with the downturn in Corporate events. Do not know whether NYC paid NASCAR any upfront money as LV will/might do.
* Provisions for fan participation, at the ceremony and during the week, along with the publicity. Look for Jay Leno with his 10:00 PM show to participate.
* NASCAR and the race tracks, to retain the fan base, are scheduling events to make a race a destination event for families etc rather than just a race. Look for more concerts etc The upcoming All Star event is an example.
* Offset the mind set that NASCAR is only an East Coast , Southern series
* In LV, possibility of setting up the souvenir trailers either on the strip or on a side street. Forgot the name, but the side street in the older downtown section that has the overhead light show could also be a location.
* LV can relate more to the fan base than downtown NYC
* NASCAR realizes more so now than in the past they have to support their Team/Race sponsors to be a viable race series
* etc., etc.,
